පසුගිය දින කිහිපය තුළ සිදුකරන ලද විශේෂ ක්ෂේත්‍ර පරීක්ෂාවන්හිදී මෙම වෛරසයට අදාළ රෝග කාරකවලින් 99%ක්ම මෙරට සූකර ගොවිපොළ ආශ්‍රිතව හඳුනාගැනීමට හැකිවූ බව සෞඛ්‍ය අංශ තහවුරු කරයි.

ඒ අනුව කොළඹ, ගම්පහ, කළුතර, අනුරාධපුරය, මහනුවර සහ පුත්තලම යන දිස්ත්‍රික්ක 6 ආවරණය වන පරිදි පිහිටි සූකර ගොවිපොළ 48ක සතුන් 1,200කට ආසන්න සංඛ්‍යාවක් පරීක්ෂාවට ලක්කර ඇති අතර, ඉන් බහුතරයක් සතුන්ට මෙම උණ වෛරසය ආසාදනය වී ඇති බව තහවුරු වූ බව සත්ත්ව නිෂ්පාදන හා සෞඛ්‍ය දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ ප්‍රධාන වසංගත රෝග විද්‍යාඥ, විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍ය ප්‍රදීප් කුමාරවඩු මහතා ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

පසුගිය වසරේදීද මෙරටින් මෙම රෝග තත්ත්වය වාර්තා වූ අතර දැඩි ජෛව ආරක්ෂණ ක්‍රමවේද හරහා එය පාලනය කිරීමට පියවර ගත්තද, මේ වන විට යළිත් වරක් දිවයිනේ ප්‍රධාන දිස්ත්‍රික්ක රැසක රෝගය ව්‍යාප්ත වීමේ අවදානමක් මතුව ඇති බව ඒ මහතා වැඩිදුරටත් පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

Surge in African Swine Fever Cases Reported in Multiple Areas

The Department of Animal Production and Health has issued a warning as cases of African swine fever are rapidly increasing in several regions of the country.

Recent targeted inspections revealed that over 99% of the viral pathogens associated with this disease have been identified in local pig farms, according to health authorities.

In the districts of Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Anuradhapura, Kandy, and Puttalam, approximately 1,200 pigs from 48 farms have undergone testing. It has been confirmed that a significant number of these animals have contracted the fever, disclosed Dr. Pradeep Kumara Vadu, the chief epidemiologist from the Department of Animal Production and Health.

This is not the first occurrence of the disease in the country, as it was reported last year as well. Although stringent biosecurity measures were implemented to control the outbreak, concern is rising over the potential spread of the disease across several key districts once again, he added.
