ඥාණසාර හිමිගේ පොලිස් ආරක්‍ෂාව ඉවත් කෙරේ..

 අභියාචනාධිකරණය සහ මහාධිකරණය මඟින් වහා අත්අඩංගුවට ගන්නා ලෙස විවෘත වරෙන්තු නිකුත් කර සිටින පූජ්‍ය ගලගොඩඅත්තේ ඥානසාර හිමියන් වෙත ලබා දී තිබූ විශේෂ පොලිස් ආරක්ෂාව ඊයේ (30 වැනිදා) සිට ක්‍රියාත්මක වන පරිදි ඉවත් කිරීමට පියවර ගෙන ඇත.

රාජගිරිය, නාවල පාරේ පිහිටි සද්ධර්ම රාජික විහාරස්ථානයේ වැඩ වාසය කරන ඥානසාර හිමියන් වෙත ‘අපරාධයක වින්දිතයන් සහ සාක්ෂිකරුවන් ආරක්ෂා කිරීමේ ජාතික අධිකාරිය’ මඟින් මෙම ආරක්ෂාව සලසා දී තිබිණි.

ඒ අනුව වැලිකඩ පොලිස් ස්ථානයට අනුයුක්ත පොලිස් නිලධාරීන් දෙදෙනෙකු දහවල් සහ රාත්‍රී කාලයේ උන්වහන්සේගේ ආරක්ෂාව වෙනුවෙන් රාජකාරියේ යොදවා සිටි බව වාර්තා වේ.

2016 වසරේදී හෝමාගම මහේස්ත්‍රාත් අධිකරණයේ විභාග වූ නඩුවකට අධිකරණ ශාලාව තුළදීම බලහත්කාරයෙන් මැදිහත්වී අදහස් ප්‍රකාශ කිරීම හේතුවෙන් 2018 වසරේදී අධිකරණයට අපහාස කිරීමේ වරදට ඥානසාර හිමියන්ට වසර හයක සිරදඬුවමක් නියම විය.

පසුව හිටපු ජනාධිපති මෛත්‍රීපාල සිරිසේන මහතා විසින් උන්වහන්සේ වෙත ජනාධිපති සමාව පිරිනැමූ අතර, එම සමාව දීමට එරෙහිව ඉදිරිපත් වූ පෙත්සමක් විභාග කළ අභියාචනාධිකරණය අදාළ ජනාධිපති සමාව බලරහිත කරමින් උන්වහන්සේව යළි බන්ධනාගාරගත කරන ලෙස පසුගිය 29 වැනිදා නියෝග කළේය.

මීට අමතරව, ඉස්ලාම් ආගමට අපහාස කිරීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් කොළඹ අංක 09 මහාධිකරණය හමුවේ ඊයේ (30) විභාගයට ගත් නඩු කටයුත්ත සඳහාද ඥානසාර හිමියන් පෙනී නොසිටි හෙයින් උන්වහන්සේව වහා අත්අඩංගුවට ගන්නා ලෙසට මහාධිකරණය මඟින්ද වරෙන්තුවක් නිකුත් කර තිබේ.

අධිකරණය මඟින් වරෙන්තු නිකුත් කර අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට නියෝග කර සිටින පුද්ගලයකු වෙත ‘අපරාධයක වින්දිතයන් සහ සාක්ෂිකරුවන්ට සහාය දීමේ සහ ආරක්ෂා කිරීමේ පනතේ’ ප්‍රතිපාදන ප්‍රකාරව තවදුරටත් පොලිස් ආරක්ෂාව ලබා දීමේ නීතිමය හැකියාවක් නොමැති බැවින්, උන්වහන්සේගේ විහාරස්ථානයට සලසා තිබූ පොලිස් ආරක්ෂාව සම්පූර්ණයෙන්ම ඉවත් කර නිලධාරීන් ආපසු කැඳවීමට පියවර ‌ගත් බව පොලිස් මූලස්ථානය පවසයි.

Special Police Protection for Ven. Gnanasara Thera Withdrawn Following Court Orders

The special police protection provided to Ven. Gnanasara Thera, who is currently subject to open warrants for immediate arrest issued by the Appeals Court and the Supreme Court, has been rescinded as of yesterday, October 30. This decision follows the implementation of a legal order regarding his status.

Ven. Gnanasara, who operates from the Saddharmarajika Viharaya located on Nawala Road in Rajagiriya, had been secured by officers from the National Authority for the Protection of Crime Victims and Witnesses.

Reports indicate that two police officers, assigned to ensure his safety by the Welikada Police Station, had been on duty both day and night to oversee his protection.

In a notable incident in 2016, Gnanasara Thera was sentenced to six years in prison for contempt of court due to his disruptive behavior and comments made within the courtroom of the Homagama Magistrate’s Court.

Former President Maithripala Sirisena later granted him a presidential pardon; however, a petition challenging this pardon was subsequently examined by the Appeals Court, which ordered on the 29th for his re-arrest, deeming the presidential pardon ineffective.

In addition, the Colombo High Court issued a warrant for his immediate arrest on October 30 after he failed to appear for proceedings related to a case involving alleged insults against the Islamic religion.

The police headquarters clarified that there is no longer a legal basis for providing police protection to an individual subject to arrest warrants, which led to the complete withdrawal of the security detail previously assigned to his temple, with officers being recalled accordingly.
