තමන් වෙත සිදුකර ඇති මෙම කැඳවීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් මාධ්‍ය වෙත අදහස් දක්වමින් මහාචාර්ය ජී.එල්. පීරිස් මහතා සඳහන් කළේ, 2009 වසරේදී විදේශ කටයුතු අමාත්‍ය ධුරයේ වැඩ භාරගැනීමෙන් අනතුරුව තමන් විසින් පවත්වන ලද එක්තරා සාකච්ඡාවකට අදාළව කරුණු විමසමින් ප්‍රකාශයක් සටහන් කරගැනීම සඳහා කොමිසම මෙම කැඳවීම සිදුකර ඇති බවයි.
ඒ අනුව හෙට දිනයේදී තමන් අල්ලස් හෝ දූෂණ චෝදනා විමර්ශන කොමිෂන් සභාව හමුවේ පෙනී සිටීමට නියමිත බවද හෙතෙම තහවුරු කළේය.
මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ රජය සමයේ මෙරට විදේශ කටයුතු විෂයභාර අමාත්‍යවරයෙකු ලෙස කටයුතු කළ මහාචාර්ය ජී.එල්. පීරිස් මහතා, යුද ගැටුම් නිමාවීමෙන් පසු ජාත්‍යන්තර මානව හිමිකම් කවුන්සිලය ඇතුළු ආයතත වල ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ රාජ්‍ය තාන්ත්‍රික ක්‍රියාවලිය මෙහෙයවූ ප්‍රධානියෙකි.
Opposition Leader GL Peiris Summoned by Commission for Bribery and Corruption Inquiry
GL Peiris, the leader of the united opposition, has been summoned to appear before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption tomorrow, October 20. This notice was issued to him in relation to inquiries concerning discussions held during his tenure as the Minister of Foreign Affairs beginning in 2009.
In a statement to the media regarding the summons, Peiris emphasized that the commission's invitation pertains to a request for clarification about a specific discussion he led while in office. He confirmed that he will indeed be present at the commission tomorrow to provide the necessary testimony.
During the administration of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Peiris served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and played a significant role in managing Sri Lanka's diplomatic engagements, particularly following the conclusion of the civil conflict. His involvement extended to various international institutions, including the United Nations Human Rights Council.
