‘යක්ෂ රාජ වජ්‍රපාණී’ පාර්ලිමේන්තුවේ කියයි.. වස් කවියක් හැන්සාඩ්ගත වන්නේ මුල් වරටයි..

පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී දයාසිරි ජයසේකර මහතා විසින් පාර්ලිමේන්තු සභා ගර්භයේදී  ගායනා කරන ලද ආන්දෝලනාත්මක වස් කවියක් මෙරට ව්‍යවස්ථාදායක ඉතිහාසයේ ප්‍රථම වතාවට හැන්සාඩ් වාර්තාවට ඇතුළත් වෙයි.

මන්ත්‍රීවරයා පාර්ලිමේන්තුව අමතමින් කියා සිටියේ වත්මන් පාලකයන් මෙරට පාරම්පරික අභිචාර විධි හා සංස්කෘතික අංගයන් වන වස් කවි ආදිය කෙරෙහි අනවශ්‍ය භීතියකින් පසුවන බවයි. 

මෑතකදී රට තුළ සිදුවූ සිදුවීම් මාලාව සිහිපත් කරමින් ඔහු පෙන්වා දුන්නේ, වස් කවි ලියූ සහ ඒවා ගායනා කළ පුද්ගලයන් අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට තරම් ආණ්ඩුව දැඩි කැළඹීමකට පත්ව ඇති බවයි. 

යාගහෝම, ශාන්තිකර්ම සහ වස් කවි යනු මෙරට ඓතිහාසික ජන සංස්කෘතියේ අංග බවත්, ඒවාට බිය විය යුත්තේ වරදක් කළ පාර්ශ්වයන් පමණක් බවත් මන්ත්‍රීවරයා මෙහිදී අවධාරණය කළේය.

වත්මන් පාලනය මහා සංඝරත්නය හෝ සම්බුද්ධ ශාසනයේ උන්නතිය පිළිබඳ උනන්දුවක් නොදක්වන බවට චෝදනා කළ ජයසේකර මහතා, ආණ්ඩුව සිදුකරන්නේ බාහිර ප්‍රදර්ශනය උදෙසා පමණක් විදේශීය ආගමික නියෝජිතයන් ගෙන්වා පෙනී සිටීම බව සඳහන් කළේය.

තායිලන්ත නියෝජ්‍ය අග්‍රාමාත්‍යවරිය ඓතිහාසික මිහින්තලා පුදබිමේ සංචාරයක නිරත වූ අවස්ථාවේදී පවා රාජ්‍ය මට්ටමින් ඊට අවශ්‍ය නිසි පරිසරය සකස් කර දීමට බලධාරීන් අසමත් වූ බව හෙතෙම පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

කවිය අවසානයේ මන්ත්‍රීවරයා සඳහන් කළේ, බොරුවෙන් හා වංචාවෙන් බලයට පත්ව සම්බුදු සසුනට හා දේශයට විනාශය ළඟා කළ පිරිස් මෙම සාපයන්ට සහ වස් කවිවලට නිසැකවම බිය විය යුතු බවයි.

Political Discourse in Sri Lanka: A Historic Performance by MP Dayasiri Jayasekara

In a groundbreaking moment for Sri Lanka's parliamentary history, MP Dayasiri Jayasekara's emotive rendition of a traditional “Vas Kavi” (folk poem) has earned a place in the Hansard report, marking the first instance of such an inclusion.

Addressing the assembly, Jayasekara expressed concerns that current leaders are harboring an unwarranted fear of the nation’s traditional forms of cultural expression, particularly “Vas Kavi.”

Reflecting on recent events across the country, he pointed out a troubling trend in which individuals who write and perform these folk poems have faced arrest, indicating a disturbing level of governmental scrutiny.

He emphasized that traditions such as “Vas Kavi,” along with other cultural elements like "Yagahoma" (a ritualistic offering), are intrinsic to the nation's historical and cultural narrative, and should only invoke fear in those who have erred.

Jayasekara further criticized the current administration for showing apathy towards the spiritual elevation of the Sangha (monastic community) and for merely staging appearances with overseas religious representatives for international display.

He recounted an incident during a visit by Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister to the historic Mihintale site, asserting that the local authorities failed to create the necessary environment for such a significant event.

Concluding his poem, Jayasekara pointedly remarked that those who have come to power through deception and dishonesty should genuinely fear repercussions from the very cultural expressions they seek to suppress.
