Minister K.D. Lal Kantha Highlights Weaknesses in State Mechanism Amid National Crisis

In a stark reflection of the current crisis gripping the nation, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land, and Irrigation K.D. Lal Kantha has expressed grave concerns regarding the severe weakening of the entire state machinery. He pointed out that public servants are struggling to fulfill their duties due to a lack of proper facilities.

Speaking at a recent event, the minister emphasized that the scarcity of resources and vehicles within public institutions has created significant challenges in carrying out essential administrative activities.

Revealing personal experiences, the minister noted that both of the official cars provided by the ministry broke down shortly after being assigned to him, forcing him to rely on a private vehicle to carry out his responsibilities.

Lal Kantha further articulated the situation, stating, "In recent years, as the country faced economic collapse, not only politics but the entire state mechanism has weakened. While farmers often blame public servants, we must recognize just how fragile our public institutions have become. Public workers are not receiving adequate salaries to sustain their livelihoods, and many officials in sectors like livestock have left the country. Those who remain are making significant sacrifices for low pay. This is precisely why we decided to increase public salaries directly from our government's preliminary budget, free from any protests or pressures. The upcoming budget will take further steps to enhance these wages."

He also raised concerns about the lack of adequate facilities for state officials. "Public servants are lacking proper vehicles for fieldwork. Both of the cars allocated to me from the ministry have failed on the road. This issue affects everyone, from ministers to ordinary officials. If the vehicles of officials are constantly breaking down, they cannot perform their duties. Therefore, acquiring new vehicles has become a necessity for revitalizing the public service," he asserted.
