 ආසියා-පැසිෆික් විකාශන සංගමයේ (ABU) වාර්ෂික මහා සමුළුවට අදාළව ශ්‍රී ලංකා සංචාරක ප්‍රවර්ධන කාර්යාංශය විසින් ලබා දුන් අනුග්‍රාහකත්වය කිසිදු පෞද්ගලික ආයතනයකට වාසි සැලසීමට කළ එකක් නොවන බවත්, එමඟින් ලොව පුරා රටවල් 66ක ප්‍රමුඛ පෙළේ ජාත්‍යන්තර මාධ්‍ය ජාල ඔස්සේ මෙරට සංචාරක ප්‍රතිරූපය ප්‍රවර්ධනය කිරීමට අමිල අවස්ථාවක් උදා වූ බවත් විදේශ කටයුතු හා සංචාරක අමාත්‍ය විජිත හේරත් මහතා පාර්ලිමේන්තුවේදී ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

අමාත්‍යවරයා අවධාරණය කළේ, රජය මෙම තීරණය ගනු ලැබුවේ අතිශය නීත්‍යනුකූලව, නිසි ක්‍රමවේදයන්ට අනුකූලව සහ පූර්ණ සද්භාවයෙන් යුතුව බවයි.

ආසියා-පැසිෆික් විකාශන සංගමයේ (ABU) වාර්ෂික සමුළුව කොළඹදී පැවැත්වීමට සමගාමීව, එහි දේශීය සත්කාරකත්වය දැරූ එම්.ටී.වී. (MTV) පුද්ගලික මාධ්‍ය ජාලය වෙත සංචාරක ප්‍රවර්ධන කාර්යාංශය මඟින් රුපියල් කෝටි 10කට ආසන්න මුදලක් ලබා දීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් පසුගිය දිනවල විපක්ෂය පාර්ලිමේන්තුව තුළ දැඩි විරෝධයක් මතු කර තිබිණි

එම චෝදනාවලට කරුණු පැහැදිලි කරමින් අමාත්‍යවරයා සඳහන් කළේ, පසුගිය ඔක්තෝබර් මස 05 වන දින එම්.ටී.වී. ආයතනය සහ ශ්‍රී ලංකා සංචාරක ප්‍රවර්ධන කාර්යාංශය අතර විධිමත් අවබෝධතා ගිවිසුමකට (MOU) එළඹි බවයි.

"මේ වැඩසටහනෙන් පස්සේ අපිට ලැබෙන වාසිදායක තත්ත්වයන් මොනවාද? ප්‍රතිලාභ මොනවාද? කියන කාරණා ඒ අවබෝධතා ගිවිසුමේ ඉතා පැහැදිලිව සඳහන් වෙනවා. මම මේ රටේ ජනතාවට ඉතා පැහැදිලිව කියන්නේ, අපි මෙවැනි වැඩසටහන්වලට අනුග්‍රාහකත්වය දක්වන්නේ කිසිවෙකුටවත් පක්ෂපාතීව නෙවෙයි, රටේ සංචාරක ක්ෂේත්‍රයේ ප්‍රවර්ධනය වෙනුවෙන් පමණයි," යනුවෙන් අමාත්‍යවරයා පැවසීය.

සංචාරක ප්‍රවර්ධනය වෙනුවෙන් අනුග්‍රහය දැක්වීම කිසියම් එක් ආයතනයකට පමණක් සීමා වූවක් නොවන බව පෙන්වා දුන් අමාත්‍යවරයා, මීට පෙරද විවිධ මාධ්‍ය ආයතන වෙත ප්‍රතිපාදන ලබා දී ඇති ආකාරය සිහිපත් කළේය.

"දෙරණ ආයතනය සංවිධානය කළ ජාත්‍යන්තර සරුංගල් ප්‍රදර්ශනයට පසුගිය වසරේ සහ මේ වසරේ අපි මිලියන 5ක්, මිලියන 7ක් බැගින් මුදල් ලබා දුන්නා. ස්වාධීන රූපවාහිනිය සහ ජාතික රූපවාහිනිය සංවිධානය කළ වැඩසටහන්වලටත් අනුග්‍රහය දක්වලා තියෙනවා. ඒ වගේම ප්‍රංශයේ සහ යුරෝපයේ කාන්තාවන් සහභාගී වන 'Raid Amazones' තරගාවලියටත් අපි අනුග්‍රහය දැක්වුවා. අපි ඒ සියලු වියදම් පිළිබඳ තොරතුරු ඉදිරියේදී සභාගත කරන්න සූදානම්," යැයි හෙතෙම සඳහන් කළේය.

ඊට අමතරව කැලණිය දුරුතු මහා පෙරහැර, දිවයිනේ ප්‍රධාන පෙළේ විහාරස්ථාන සහ කෝවිල්වල පැවැත්වෙන සංස්කෘතික මංගල්‍යයන් සංචාරකයන් ආකර්ෂණය කරගැනීම උදෙසා සජීවීව ප්‍රචාරය කිරීමටද අනුග්‍රහය ලබා දෙන බව අමාත්‍යවරයා කීය.

මීට පෙර රජයන් විසින් විදේශයන්හි සංචාරක ප්‍රවර්ධනය සඳහා වැය කළ අතිවිශාල මුදල් සම්භාරය සහ ABU සමුළුවෙන් ලැබුණු වාසිය සංසන්දනය කරමින් අමාත්‍යවරයා මෙසේද පැහැදිලි කළේය:

"මීට පෙර ඕස්ට්‍රේලියාව සහ නවසීලන්තය යන රටවල් දෙක තුළ 'රෝඩ් ෂෝ' පවත්වන්න පමණක් රුපියල් මිලියන 150කට අධික මහජන මුදලක් වියදම් කර තිබුණා. නමුත් මේ ABU සමුළුව හරහා අප්‍රිකානු කලාපය, යුරෝපා කලාපය ඇතුළු ලොව පුරා රටවල් 66ක ප්‍රධාන පෙළේ මාධ්‍ය නියෝජිතයන් මෙරටට පැමිණ දින පහක් රැඳී සිටියා. ඒ හරහා සීගිරිය, අනුරාධපුරය, මහනුවර, නයිනතිව්, ත්‍රිකුණාමලය කෝනේශ්වරම් කෝවිල, උඩවලව, ගාල්ල, සෙවණගල ඇතුළු ප්‍රදේශවල සුන්දරත්වය, අපේ සත්කාරකත්වය සහ සංස්කෘතික වටිනාකම් එම රටවල් 66 තුළ ප්‍රචාරය වුණා. ඒ ප්‍රචාරණයෙන් ලැබුණු ප්‍රතිලාභය මිල කළ නොහැකි තරම් ඉහළයි."

මෙමඟින් ලැබුණු ආර්ථික හා ප්‍රවර්ධන ප්‍රතිලාභය රටට සහ ජනතාවට හිමි වූවක් බවත්, ඉදිරියේදී උඩවලව වැනි ප්‍රදේශ ජාත්‍යන්තර සංචාරක ගමනාන්ත ලෙස නීත්‍යනුකූලව හා ක්‍රමවත්ව දියුණු කිරීමට මෙවැනි ජාත්‍යන්තර ප්‍රචාරණයන් අඛණ්ඩව යොදා ගන්නා බවත් අමාත්‍ය විජිත හේරත් මහතා වැඩිදුරටත් සභාව හමුවේ අවධාරණය කළේය.

Sri Lanka's Tourism Promotion Efforts Highlighted at ABU General Assembly

The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau’s sponsorship for the Annual General Assembly of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) has sparked discussions regarding its implications for the nation's tourism image. Foreign Affairs and Tourism Minister, Wijith Herath, underscored in Parliament that this support was not intended to benefit any private entity but instead offered a unique opportunity to promote Sri Lanka's tourism to international media across 66 countries.

Herath emphasized that the government's decision was made with complete legal integrity, adherence to proper procedures, and good faith. He pointed out that the sponsorship, amounting to approximately 10 million rupees, was provided to the local host, MTV, amid significant criticism from the opposition during recent parliamentary sessions.

Clarifying allegations surrounding the sponsorship, the Minister disclosed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) had been signed between the Ministry and MTV on October 5. "The benefits and advantages we expect from this program are explicitly outlined in the MOU. I want to clearly convey to the people of this country that our support for such initiatives is unbiased and solely aimed at enhancing the tourism sector," he stated.

Additionally, he mentioned sponsorships for participation in events like the 'Raid Amazones' competitions involving women from France and Europe. The Minister committed to disclosing details of all expenditures in the near future.

Furthermore, Herath indicated that the government would continue to support vibrant cultural festivals celebrated at key temples and kovils throughout the island, aiming to attract tourists.

Responding to concerns about previous substantial expenditures by previous administrations for foreign tourism promotion, he compared them with the recent ABU assembly's outcomes. "Last year, we spent over 150 million rupees to conduct roadshows in Australia and New Zealand. In contrast, the ABU assembly brought representatives from leading media outlets of 66 countries, allowing them to stay for five days while showcasing the beauty of locations like Sigiriya, Anuradhapura, Kandy, and Trincomalee," he explained, highlighting the unmatched value of this exposure for the country.

Herath concluded that the economic and promotional benefits derived from such international endorsements belong to the nation and its people, and eluded to ongoing efforts to further develop regions like Udawalawe as legitimate international tourist destinations through continuous international promotions.
