Swift Police Action Leads to Arrest in Child Abuse Incident
In a concerning incident that has shocked the community, police in Edirimunuwara swiftly apprehended a suspect following the circulation of a disturbing video on social media. The footage, which depicted the abuse of a child, prompted immediate action from officers within the Child and Women’s Bureau on October 31, 2026.
Authorities confirmed that the incident took place on October 28, 2026. The child victim has been hospitalized for evaluation and treatment, while the suspect has been transferred to the Kuruduwatta Police Station for further legal proceedings. Investigations are ongoing, with the Kuruduwatta police taking the lead in this troubling case.
