 හම්බන්තොට ජාත්‍යන්තර වරාය පරිශ්‍රය තුළ ආනයනික වාහන නවතා තිබූ අංගනයකට එල්ල වූ ප්‍රබල අකුණු ප්‍රහාරයක් හේතුවෙන් හටගත් හදිසි ගින්නකින් එහි ගාල් කර තිබූ මෝටර් රථ 11කට බරපතළ හානි සිදුව ඇති බව වරාය පොලිසිය තහවුරු කරයි.

31 වන දින රාත්‍රී 8.45 ත් 9.00 ත් අතර කාලයේදී හම්බන්තොට සහ ඒ අවට ප්‍රදේශයට ඇදහැලුණු ධාරානිපාත වර්ෂාව මධ්‍යයේ මෙම අකුණු අනතුර සිදුව තිබේ.

අකුණු සැර පතිත වීමත් සමඟම වාහන රඳවා තිබූ අංගනයේ ක්ෂණිකව ගිනිදැල් ඇවිලී ඇති අතර, වරාය ආරක්ෂක අංශ සහ හදිසි ආපදා ඒකකය වහා මැදිහත් වී ගින්න පාලනය කිරීමට පියවර ගෙන ඇත. 

ඔවුන්ගේ කඩිනම් ක්‍රියාකාරීත්වය නොවන්නට අංගනයේ නවතා තිබූ තවත් වාහන සිය ගණනකට ගින්න පැතිර යාමේ අවදානමක් පැවති බව වාර්තා වේ. 

කෙසේ වෙතත්, ගින්න නිවා දැමීමට පෙර ඒ ආසන්නයේ තිබූ රථ 11ක් දැඩි ලෙස ගිනිගෙන විනාශ වී අවසන්ය.

අනතුරින් විනාශයට පත් මෝටර් රථ මාදිලි හෝ ඒ මඟින් සිදුවූ සමස්ත මූල්‍ය අලාභය මෙතෙක් නිශ්චිතව තක්සේරු කර නොමැති අතර, හම්බන්තොට වරාය පොලිස් ස්ථානය සිද්ධිය සම්බන්ධයෙන් පූර්ණ විමර්ශනයක් අරඹා තිබේ.

Lightning Strike Causes Significant Damage to Vehicles at Hambantota Port

A powerful lightning strike in an area designated for imported vehicles at the Hambantota International Port has left 11 vehicles severely damaged, confirmed port police. The incident occurred between 8:45 PM and 9:00 PM on the 31st, during a period of heavy rainfall that swept through Hambantota and surrounding areas.

As the lightning struck, it ignited a fire almost instantly in the parking area where the vehicles were stationed. Security personnel and emergency response teams at the port acted swiftly to contain the flames, which posed a serious threat to additional vehicles parked nearby.

Reports indicate that had the response not been so prompt, the fire could have spread further, endangering even more vehicles. Unfortunately, before the fire could be extinguished, 11 nearby vehicles were completely engulfed and destroyed.

Details regarding the make and model of the damaged vehicles and a comprehensive assessment of the financial losses incurred is yet to be determined. Meanwhile, the Hambantota Port police have initiated a full investigation into the incident.
