Violence Erupts at Negombo Prison, Leaving 20 Inmates Injured
A violent clash between two inmate groups at Negombo Prison has resulted in injuries to 20 prisoners, with three of them reportedly in critical condition, according to police reports.
The Director of Negombo Hospital confirmed that all injured inmates have been admitted for treatment following the unrest that erupted within the prison compound.
In response to the incident, authorities have called in a special police task force to regain control and restore order within the facility.
Efforts have since been undertaken to manage the situation effectively.
Prison officials and police are conducting further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
