මීගමුව බන්ධනාගාරයේ ඇති වූ ගැටුම සම්බන්ධයෙන් තමන් දැඩි ලෙස කම්පනයට පත්ව සිටින බවත්, අදාළ විෂය භාර අමාත්යවරයා ලෙස එහි වගකීම තමන් භාර ගන්නා බවත් අධිකරණ අමාත්ය හර්ෂණ නානායක්කාර මහතා පවසයි.
මාධ්ය වෙත අදහස් දක්වමින් අමාත්යවරයා සඳහන් කළේ බන්ධනාගාරයේ තත්ත්වය මේ වන විට පාලනය කර ඇති බවයි.
කෙසේ වෙතත්, සිදුවූ ජීවිත හානි කිසිසේත් සාධාරණීකරණය කළ නොහැකි බව ඔහු අවධාරණය කළේය.
"මිනිස් ජීවිත අහිමි වීම පිළිබඳව මම දැඩි ලෙස කණගාටු වෙනවා. මියගිය අයගේ පවුල්වල සාමාජිකයන් වෙත මගේ බලවත් ශෝකය ප්රකාශ කරනවා," යැයි අමාත්යවරයා මෙහිදී පැවසීය.
සිදුවූයේ කුමක්ද යන්න පිළිබඳව බලධාරීන් විසින් විධිමත් විමර්ශනයක් පවත්වන බවත්, මෙවැනි සිදුවීම් අනාගතයේදී ඇති නොවීමට අවශ්ය පියවර ගන්නා බවත් ඔහු සහතික විය.
මෙහිදී කිසියම් පුද්ගලයෙකුට දොස් පැවරීමට වඩා, සත්ය කරුණු අනාවරණය කර ගැනීම සහ මෙවැනි තත්ත්වයන් නැවත ඇති වීම වැළැක්වීම තම මූලික අරමුණ බව ද අමාත්යවරයා වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කළේය.
Justice Minister Addresses Prison Clash and Expresses Condolences
Justice Minister Harshana Rajakaruna has expressed deep concern regarding the recent clash at the Meegamuwa Prison, affirming his responsibility for the situation as the minister overseeing the relevant sector.
In a statement to the media, he reassured that the conditions within the prison have been brought under control.
However, he emphasized that the loss of life cannot be justified in any context.
"I am profoundly saddened by the loss of human lives. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of those who perished," the minister remarked.
Officials have initiated a thorough investigation into the incident, and the minister assured that steps would be taken to prevent such occurrences in the future.
He further noted that uncovering the truth about the incident and preventing the recurrence of similar situations remain his primary objectives, rather than placing blame on any individual.

ReplyDeleteThe tragic prison incident, in which 27 inmates and prison officers reportedly lost their lives, raises serious questions about the management of the crisis and the use of force. Behind every casualty is a grieving family—mothers who have lost their sons, children who have lost their fathers, and loved ones whose lives have been changed forever.
The people of Sri Lanka deserve a full, transparent, and independent investigation to determine what happened, whether the loss of life could have been prevented, and who should be held accountable. If that investigation finds that there was a failure of leadership or responsibility at the ministerial level, then the government should uphold the same standards of accountability it previously demanded of others. Leadership is measured not only by words in opposition but also by actions in government.
