A heated exchange took place today (16) between Yapanaya District Independent MP Arjuna Ranatunga and Fisheries Minister R. Chandrasekar during a coordination committee meeting in Kilinochchi. The confrontation escalated quickly, as confirmed by video footage from the incident.

As the situation intensified, the Minister's attempts to acquire several documents from the MP's vicinity appeared to further fuel the tension. The video clearly shows MP Ranatunga issuing a stern warning to the Minister, stating, "If I have a hand on it, I will also have a hand on you... Do you understand?"

This altercation caused significant disruptions to the proceedings of the district coordination committee meeting, highlighting the deep-seated rivalries and tensions that persist within political circles.
