මරියසෙල් ගුණතිලක : සිංහල පොප් සංගීතයේ නොමියෙන හඬ නිහඬ වෙයි..

 දශක පහකට වැඩි කාලයක් මෙරට සංගීත ක්ෂේත්‍රය සිය හඬින් ඒකාලෝක කළ ප්‍රවීණ ගායන ශිල්පිනී මරියසෙල් ගුණතිලක මහත්මිය අභාවප්‍රාප්ත වූවාය. මියයන විට ඇය 68 වැනි වියේ පසුවූවාය.

කළුබෝවිල ශික්ෂණ රෝහලේ නේවාසිකව ප්‍රතිකාර ලබමින් සිටියදී ඇය මෙලෙස අභාවප්‍රාප්ත වූ බව පවුලේ ආරංචි මාර්ග තහවුරු කරයි.

1958 වසරේදී උපත ලැබූ මරියසෙල් ගුණතිලක මහත්මිය, සිය ගායන දිවිය ආරම්භ කළේ වයස අවුරුදු 7ක් වැනි ඉතා කුඩා අවධියකදීය. 

 මෙරට ජනප්‍රිය වූ 'පොප්' සංගීත රැල්ලේ ප්‍රමුඛතම ගායිකාවක වූ ඇය, සිය අනන්‍ය වූ හඬ පෞරුෂය සහ වේදිකාවේ දක්වන සජීවී දක්ෂතාවය හේතුවෙන් රසික හදවත් දිනාගත්තාය.

ගායනයට අමතරව ඇය දක්ෂ සංගීත අධ්‍යක්ෂවරියක, වාද්‍ය ශිල්පිනියක මෙන්ම රූපවාහිනී වැඩසටහන් ඉදිරිපත් කරන්නියක ලෙස ද සිය දක්ෂතා විදහා පෑවාය.

මෙරට සංගීත කණ්ඩායම් සමඟ එක්ව විදේශ රටවල් රැසක ප්‍රසංග සඳහා සහභාගී වෙමින් සිංහල ගීතය ජාත්‍යන්තරයට ගෙන යාමට ද ඇය පුරෝගාමී මෙහෙවරක් ඉටු කළාය.

In a heart-wrenching loss for the music industry, renowned Sri Lankan vocalist Mariasel Gunatilake has passed away, leaving behind a legacy that has echoed through the country for over five decades. She was 74 years old at the time of her death.

Family sources confirm that Gunatilake died while receiving treatment at the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital.

Born in 1950, Gunatilake began her singing career at the tender age of seven. Emerging as one of the most prominent female singers in the popular pop music wave of the 1960s and 70s, her unique voice and captivating stage presence endeared her to countless fans.

Her repertoire includes timeless hits such as "Kanda Surinduni," "Mallika," "Seethala Sulangak," "Adare," "Kalu Kella," and "Sinha Lova Dutuwa," which continue to be celebrated on radio and concert stages across the nation. Notably, "Kanda Surinduni," sung in honor of the deities in Kataragama, has become an immortal anthem among believers.
