 මැදපෙරදිග කලාපයේ හදිසියේ හටගත් යුදමය වාතාවරණය හේතුවෙන් ගුවන් සීමා වසා දැමීම නිසා කටුනායකින් පිටත්ව ගිය ශ්‍රී ලංකන් ගුවන් යානා දෙකකට පැයකට අධික කාලයක් අහසේ රැඳී සිටීමට සිදුවූ බව ශ්‍රී ලංකන් ගුවන් සේවය පවසයි.

ඊයේ (14) පස්වරුවේ කටුනායක ගුවන් තොටුපොළෙන් කුවේටය බලා පියාසර කළ යූ.එල්. 229 දරන යානය සහ දමාම් බලා පියාසර කළ යූ.එල්. 253 දරන යානය මෙලෙස අපහසුතාවට පත්ව ඇත. 

මෙම යානා දෙකම ඒ-321 නියෝ (A-321neo) වර්ගයේ ඒවා වේ.

ගුවන් සීමා වසා දැමීමත් සමඟ අදාළ ගමනාන්ත වෙත ළඟාවීමට නොහැකි වූ මෙම යානා දෙක, එම කලාපයට ආසන්න ඉහළ අහසේ පැයකට අධික කාලයක් රවුම් ගසමින් සිට ඇති අතර පසුව නියමුවන්ගේ දක්ෂතාව මත ආරක්ෂිතව ගොඩබස්වා තිබේ.

ශ්‍රී ලංකන් ගුවන් සේවයේ ආයතනික සන්නිවේදන අංශය සඳහන් කළේ, අදාළ යානා දෙක අද උදෑසන වන විට යළි කටුනායක ගුවන් තොටුපොළ වෙත පැමිණ ඇති බවයි.

SriLankan Airlines Flights Delayed Due to Airspace Closure Amid Regional Tensions

Recent military tensions in the Middle East led to a temporary closure of airspace, causing significant delays for two SriLankan Airlines flights that had departed from Colombo's Bandaranaike International Airport. The airline reported that both flights were forced to remain airborne for over an hour due to the sudden restriction.

On the afternoon of the 14th, flight UL 229, en route to Kuwait, and flight UL 253, destined for Dhammam, encountered these challenges. Both aircraft are of the A321neo model.

As the airspace remained closed, the flights circled at high altitude near the affected zone for an extended period, before safely landing thanks to the skill and experience of the flight crews.

The corporate communications department of SriLankan Airlines confirmed that both aircraft returned to Bandaranaike International Airport this morning without incident.
