 මෙරට අධිකරණ පද්ධතිය තුළ පවතින දැඩි නඩු ප්‍රමාදය අවම කිරීම සඳහා විනිසුරුවරුන්ගේ විශ්‍රාම යන වයස් සීමාව දීර්ඝ කිරීම අත්‍යවශ්‍ය පියවරක් බව පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී අසිත නිරෝෂන මහතා පවසයි.

මන්ත්‍රීවරයා පෙන්වා දුන්නේ වර්තමානයේ අධිකරණ පද්ධතිය තුළ නඩු විශාල ප්‍රමාණයක් ගොඩගැසී ඇති බවත්, එක් නඩු වාරයක සිට ඊළඟ නඩු වාරය සඳහා මාස 8ක හෝ 10ක පමණ දීර්ඝ කාලයක් ගතවන බවත්ය.

මෙම තත්ත්වය අපරාධකරුවන්ට මෙන්ම දේශපාලනඥයන්ට ද වාසිදායක වී ඇති බවත්, අතීතයේ සිටි බලධාරීන් මෙම ක්‍රමය වෙනස් කිරීමට නිසි පියවර නොගත් බවත් ඔහු චෝදනා කළේය.

අධිකරණ පද්ධතියේ කාර්යක්ෂමතාව ඉහළ නැංවීම සඳහා රජය ගෙන යන වැඩපිළිවෙළ යටතේ හම්බන්තොට වැනි ප්‍රදේශවල අලුතින් මහාධිකරණ පිහිටුවීමට පියවර ගෙන ඇති බව ද මන්ත්‍රීවරයා සඳහන් කළේය.

"අපේ රටේ සිදුවන සංකීර්ණ අපරාධ මර්දනය කිරීමට නම් අධිකරණ පද්ධතිය තුළ සිටින අත්දැකීම් බහුල ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ විනිසුරුවරුන්ගේ සේවය තවදුරටත් අවශ්‍යයි. ඒ නිසා ඔවුන්ගේ සේවා කාලය වසරකින් හෝ දෙකකින් දීර්ඝ කිරීම, අපරාධ මර්දනය සඳහා අප ගෙන යන වැඩපිළිවෙළේ එක් වැදගත් පියවරක් පමණයි," යනුවෙන් ද අසිත නිරෝෂන මහතා ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

පවතින නඩු ප්‍රමාදයන් මඟහරවා ගනිමින් අධිකරණ පද්ධතිය වඩාත් විනිවිදභාවයකින් සහ වේගවත් ලෙස ක්‍රියාත්මක කරවීම රජයේ මූලික අරමුණ බව ද මන්ත්‍රීවරයා වැඩිදුරටත් කියා සිටියේය.

Call to Extend Retirement Age for Judges to Address Court Delays

Member of Parliament Asitha Niroshan has emphasized the need to extend the retirement age of judges as a vital measure to reduce the severe backlog of cases within the country's judicial system.

He highlighted the alarming number of pending cases in the court system, noting that it currently takes eight to ten months to progress from one hearing to the next.

This situation has benefited not only criminals but also politicians, he charged, criticizing past authorities for failing to take appropriate action to change this ineffective system.

To improve the efficiency of the judicial system, the government has taken steps to establish new high courts in areas like Hambanthota, according to the MP.

"To combat the complex crimes occurring in our country, we need the continued service of experienced senior judges within the judicial system. Therefore, extending their term by one or two years is a significant step in our ongoing efforts to tackle crime," Niroshan stated.

He further reiterated that ensuring the judicial system operates with greater transparency and efficiency is a primary objective of the government in its pursuit to eliminate existing case delays.
