ඇඹිලිපිටිය මහවැලි බුද්ධි මණ්ඩපයේදී පැවැති කෘෂිකර්ම අමාත්‍යාංශයේ ඉදිරි වැඩපිළිවෙල දැනුවත් කිරීමේ හමුවකට එක්වෙමින් අමාත්‍යවරයා මේ බව සඳහන් කළේය.

රාජ්‍ය සේවකයින් පිළිබඳ සමාජයේ පවතින ඇතැම් මතවාද විවේචනය කළ අමාත්‍යවරයා, "රාජ්‍ය සේවකයාට පඩි ගෙවන්නේ මහජනතාව කියන එක වැරදියි. ඔවුන් උදේ සිට රෑ වනතුරු මහන්සි වී වැඩ කරලා තමන්ගේ ශ්‍රමයට අදාළ වැටුපයි ලබා ගන්නේ. ඇත්තටම ඔවුන් කරන සේවයට සාපේක්ෂව දැනට ලැබෙන වැටුප ප්‍රමාණවත් නැහැ," යැයි පැවසීය.

වී මිල සම්බන්ධයෙන් අදහස් දක්වමින් අමාත්‍යවරයා කියා සිටියේ වී කිලෝවක් සඳහා රුපියල් 120ක මිලක් ලබා දීම සාධාරණ වුවත්, අඩු අස්වැන්නක් ලබන ගොවීන්ට එම මිල ප්‍රමාණවත් නොවන බවයි. වී සහ සහල් මිල ස්ථාවර කිරීම සඳහා නව සංස්කෘතියක් ගොඩනගන බවත්, අතරමැදියන් විසින් ගොවියා සහ පාරිභෝගිකයා යන දෙපාර්ශවයම සූරාකෑම වැළැක්වීමට පියවර ගන්නා බවත් ඔහු අවධාරණය කළේය.

මෙරටට අවශ්‍ය බීජවලින් සියයට 98ක්ම දැන් රට තුළම නිෂ්පාදනය කරන බවත්, සහල් නිෂ්පාදනයේ අතිරික්තයක් පවතින බවත් අමාත්‍යවරයා මෙහිදී අනාවරණය කළේය.

"අපිට පුළුවන්නම් පොහොර නිකන් දෙනවා. කෘෂි රසායන සහ උපකරණ සඳහා සහන ලබා දිය යුතුයි. නමුත් ගොවීන් ද සිය අස්වැන්න වැඩි කර ගැනීමට උනන්දු විය යුතුයි," යැයි ද හෙතෙම පැවසීය.

සංචාරකයින්ගේ අවශ්‍යතා සඳහා පමණක් සහල් ආනයනය කිරීමට සිදු විය හැකි බවත්, සැමන් වැනි දෑ ආනයනය කිරීමේ අවශ්‍යතාවක් නොමැති බවත් ඔහු වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කළේය.

මෙහිදී හිරු සහ දෙරණ මාධ්‍ය ආයතනවල ක්‍රියාකලාපය දැඩි ලෙස විවේචනය කළ අමාත්‍යවරයා, රජය අපහසුතාවයට පත් කිරීම සඳහා ඇතැම් මාධ්‍ය අසත්‍ය ප්‍රචාර පතුරුවන බවට චෝදනා කළේය. "අපි සාමුහිකව වැඩ කරනවා. මාධ්‍ය මොනවා කිව්වත් අපි ජනතාව වෙනුවෙන් ගත යුතු තීන්දු ගන්නවා," යැයි ද ඔහු කියා සිටියේය.

Government Plans Salary Increase for State Employees in Upcoming Budget

In remarks made during a meeting to discuss upcoming initiatives from the Ministry of Agriculture at the Embilipitiya Mahaweli Conference Hall, Agriculture Minister K.D. Lal Kantha emphasized the government's commitment to improving salaries for state employees. He firmly stated that state workers are not merely recipients of public funds but earn their wages through diligent labor.

The minister criticized prevalent societal beliefs regarding state employees, highlighting the fallacy that they are funded by the taxpayer's burden. "It is incorrect to say that state employees are paid by the public. They work tirelessly from dawn to dusk, earning wages commensurate with their labor. In fact, the remuneration they currently receive is insufficient for the services they provide," he asserted.

Addressing the issue of rice pricing, the minister suggested that while a price of 120 rupees per kilogram for rice may seem fair, it does not suffice for farmers experiencing low yields. He announced that a new framework aimed at stabilizing rice and grain prices is in the works, stressing the need to implement measures that prevent exploitation of both farmers and consumers by middlemen.

Lal Kantha revealed that the country currently produces 98% of the essential seeds required domestically and noted that there is currently a surplus in rice production. "We can manage without simply distributing fertilizers. It is crucial to provide subsidies for agricultural chemicals and equipment, but farmers must also be eager to enhance their yields," he remarked.

He indicated that rice imports might only be necessary to meet the needs of tourists, asserting that there is no requirement for importing consumer goods like salmon. The minister also criticized media outlets such as Hirunika and Derana for their activities, accusing some media of spreading misinformation to create public discontent. "We are working collectively. Regardless of what the media says, we must make decisions in the best interest of the people," he concluded.
