 සෑම පුද්ගලයෙකුටම ප්‍රතිලාභ සැලසෙන, ගුණාත්මක සහ පහසුකම් සහිත පොදු ප්‍රවාහන ක්ෂේත්‍රයක් ගොඩනැගිය යුතුව ඇති බවත්, ඒ තුළින් ජනතාවට ප්‍රවාහනය සඳහා පෞද්ගලිකව දැරීමට සිදුව ඇති වැය බර අවම කරමින් ගුණාත්මක ප්‍රවාහන සේවාවක් රට තුළ සහතික කළ හැකි බවත් ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතා සඳහන් කළේය.

එබැවින් නිදහස් සෞඛ්‍ය සේවාවේ දියුණුව කෙරහි දක්වන අවධානයම, පොදු ප්‍රවාහන සේවාවේ උන්නතිය වෙනුවෙන් යොමු කිරීමේ වැදගත්කමද ජනාධිපතිවරයා පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතා මේ බව සඳහන් කළේ ප්‍රවාහන, මහාමාර්ග සහ නාගරික සංවර්ධන අමාත්‍යාංශයට අදාළව 2026 වසරේ වෙන් කෙරුණු අයවැය ප්‍රතිපාදන මත ක්‍රියාත්මක ව්‍යාපෘතිවල ප්‍රගති සමාලෝචනය සහ 2027 අයවැය යෝජනා පිළිබඳ (13) ජනාධිපති ලේකම් කාර්යාලයේ පැවති අයවැය පූර්ව සාකච්ඡාවට එක් වෙමිනි.

නව සැලැස්මක් ඔස්සේ පොදු ප්‍රවාහන සේවාව දියුණු කිරීමේ අවශ්‍යතාව මෙහිදී පෙන්වා දුන් ජනාධිපතිවරයා ප්‍රවාහන සහ මහාමාර්ග ක්ෂේත්‍රය තුළ 2026 වසරේ ක්‍රියාත්මක ව්‍යාපෘතිවල ප්‍රගතිය වෙන් වෙන්ව විමසා බැලීය. 

පැරණි බස් රථ සංචිත ක්‍රම ක්‍රමයෙන් ධාවනයෙන් ඉවත් කරමින් නව බස් රථ ධාවනයට එක් කිරීමේ වැඩපිළිවෙළ පිළිබඳවද මෙහිදී විශේෂ අවධානය යොමු කෙරුණු අතර නගරාශ්‍රිත කෙටි දුර ධාවනය සඳහා මෙට්‍රෝ බස් රථ වැනි පහසුකම් සහිත බස් රථ සංචිත ප්‍රතිස්ථාපනය කිරීමෙන් ජනතාවට සුවපහසු ගමනාගමනයක් සහතික කළ හැකි බව වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කළේය.

නාගරික සංවර්ධන අමාත්‍යාංශය යටතේ ක්‍රියාත්මක ප්‍රධාන වැඩසටහන් වන මහල් නිවාස සංකීර්ණ ඉදිකිරීමේ ව්‍යාපෘති, නාගරික ප්‍රදේශ ආශ්‍රිත කසළ කළමනාකරණ ව්‍යාපෘති මෙන්ම CITY BRANDING ව්‍යාපෘතිය යටතේ ක්‍රියාත්මක වැඩසටහන්වල 2026 වසරේ ප්‍රගතිය, මෙම වසර් ජනතා අයිතියට පත් කළ හැකි ව්‍යාපෘති සහ ඉදිරි වසර වෙනුවෙන් අවශ්‍ය ප්‍රතිපාදන පිළිබඳ මෙහිදී පුළුල් ලෙස විමසා බැලිණි. 

ලබන වසරේදී නිම කළ හැකි ව්‍යාපෘති තෝරා ගෙන ඒවාට ප්‍රමුඛතාව ලබා දෙමින් අයවැය ප්‍රතිපාදන වෙන් කිරීමට උපදෙස් දුන් ජනාධිපතිවරයා විදේශ ණය ආධාර යටතේ සිදු වන ව්‍යාපෘතිවලදී, අවසාන ප්‍රතිඵලය පිළිබඳ නිසි අවබෝධයකින් තොරව එම ව්‍යාපෘති අනුමත නොකළ යුතු බවටද උපදෙස් දුන්නේය.

President Emphasizes Need for Improved Public Transport Services in Sri Lanka

During a recent discussion, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake underscored the necessity of developing a robust public transportation sector that is both accessible and of high quality. He highlighted that such advancements could significantly reduce the financial burden on citizens who currently rely on private transportation methods.

While addressing the Ministry of Transport, Highways, and Urban Development, the President pointed out the critical relationship between the enhancement of public transport services and the overall progress in health services. He made these remarks during a preliminary budget discussion regarding the projects earmarked for action in the 2026 budget.

During the evaluation of ongoing projects, the President emphasized the importance of a new plan aimed at enhancing public transport services. This involves a close examination of the progress of projects scheduled to operate in 2026.

A key focus of the dialogue was the gradual phasing out of older bus fleets, with plans to introduce new buses into service. The President noted that incorporating modern facilities, such as metro buses for short-distance travel, could ensure a comfortable and efficient commuting experience for the public.

The Urban Development Authority's major initiatives, including multi-story housing projects, urban waste management projects, and city branding undertakings, were also reviewed for their progress in 2026 and beyond. The discussions involved a detailed assessment of projects that have the potential to positively impact the populace in the coming years.

The President urged stakeholders to prioritize projects that can be completed in the upcoming year and to allocate budget provisions accordingly. He also advised against approving projects funded through foreign loans without a proper understanding of their expected outcomes.

In attendance were key figures such as Minister of Transport and Highways Bimal Ratnayake, Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways Dr. Prasanna Gunasekera, Deputy Minister of Urban Development Eranga Gunasekara, along with several other senior officials from the President’s office and relevant ministries.
