Former Police Chief CD Wickramaratne Found Dead at Home

Concerns have arisen regarding the absence of police honors for the late former Police Chief CD Wickramaratne, as local police sources indicate that a protocol is in place for officers who die by suicide. According to these sources, no police honors will be accorded to any officer who takes their own life, regardless of their rank.

This tradition implies that Wickramaratne, despite his former high-ranking position, will not receive the honors typically bestowed upon deceased police officials.

The former Police Chief was discovered lifeless at his residence on Parakram Mawatha in Talahena, Malabe. Preliminary investigations revealed that a police officer assigned to protect him accessed a firearm under the guise of conducting a routine check, subsequently resulting in the tragic event.

At the time of this unfortunate incident, only Wickramaratne's wife and young son were present at home, along with two security personnel. The police have announced that further investigations into the incident are underway.
