 වත්මන් රජය කිසිදු මැතිවරණයකට මුහුණ දීමට නොහැකි තරම් දේශපාලනිකව පිරිහී ඇති බවත්, අවම වශයෙන් සමූපකාර ඡන්දයක් පවා ජයග්‍රහණය කිරීමට ඔවුන්ට ශක්තියක් නොමැති බවත් හිටපු අමාත්‍ය ජොන්ස්ටන් ප්‍රනාන්දු මහතා පවසයි.

පසුගියදා පැවැති ජනහමුවක් අමතමින් ඒ මහතා අවධාරණය කළේ, වත්මන් පාලකයන් එදා මෙන්ම අදත් මැතිවරණ මගහරිමින් සිටින බවයි.

2015 යහපාලන රජයේ ප්‍රධාන කොටස්කරුවෙකු වූ අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතා එදා අරලියගහ මන්දිරයට ඉදිරිපස දොරින් ගිය බවත්, එදා මෙන්ම අදත් ඔවුන් මැතිවරණ කල් දැමීමේ ප්‍රතිපත්තියක් අනුගමනය කරන බවත් ඔහු සඳහන් කළේය.

"එදා පළාත් සභා මැතිවරණය පවත්වන්න තිබුණත් ඔවුන් එය කළේ නැහැ. අදටත් පළාත් සභා මැතිවරණයක් පවත්වලා නැහැ. 2018 වසරේදී එවකට පැවති රජය විවිධ මඩ ප්‍රහාර එල්ල කළත්, ජනතාව පොහොට්ටුවට අතිමහත් ජයග්‍රහණයක් ලබා දුන්නා. අද මැතිවරණයක් පැවැත්වුවහොත් වත්මන් රජය අන්ත පරාජයකට පත්වන බව ඔවුන් දන්නවා," යැයි හිටපු අමාත්‍යවරයා පැවසීය.

කුරුණෑගල දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ සමූපකාර ඡන්ද පවා පැවැත්වීමට රජය බිය වී ඇති බව පෙන්වා දුන් ඒ මහතා, මියගිය සාමාජිකයන් ඉවත් කර ඡන්දය පවත්වන ලෙස ඉල්ලමින් අධිකරණය හමුවට යාමට පවා ඔවුන්ට සිදුව ඇති බව ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

වත්මන් රජයේ පිරිහීම කෙතරම්ද යත්, ඔවුන්ට දැන් කිසිදු ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදී මැතිවරණයකට මුහුණ දීමේ හැකියාවක් නොමැති බව ජොන්ස්ටන් ප්‍රනාන්දු මහතා වැඩිදුරටත් අවධාරණය කළේය.

Former Minister Johnston Fernando Critiques Current Government's Political Weakness

Former Minister Johnston Fernando has expressed serious concerns regarding the current government's capacity to face elections, asserting that they are so politically weakened that securing even a bare minimum of votes is beyond their reach.

Speaking at a recent public gathering, Fernando emphasized that the present ruling party has consistently avoided elections, a tactic he claims has persisted from their earlier tenure to the present day.

He recounted an incident from when Anura Kumara Dissanayake, a key figure in the 2015 good governance government, approached the main entrance of the Presidential Secretariat, highlighting a trend of postponing elections that he argues has not changed.

"Although by now local government elections should have been held, they were not conducted then, and similarly, local body elections have yet to take place today. Even in 2018, when the government faced various accusations of misconduct, the public overwhelmingly supported the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna party. They are fully aware that if an election were to take place now, this government would suffer a definitive defeat," Fernando stated.

He further criticized the government for its fear of even conducting local council elections in the Kurunegala District, revealing that they have even resorted to seeking court intervention in a bid to hold elections while removing deceased members from the electoral rolls.

Fernando reiterated that the current government's disarray leaves them with no viable opportunity to tackle any democratic elections ahead.
