දිට්වා කුනාටුවෙන් විනාශ වූ පාර හදන්නැයි විරෝධතා...

 දිට්වා සුලි කුණාටුවෙන් හානියට පත් කොත්මලේ වැවන්ඩන් වතුයායට සහ පාසලය පිවිසෙන මාර්ගය කඩිනමින් ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණය කර දෙන ලෙස ඉල්ලා එම වතුයේ පදිංචි වතු කම්කරුවන් එම වතුයායට පිවිසෙන මාර්ගයේදි උද්ගෝෂණයක නිරත විය.

එම නායයැමෙන් එම වතුයායේ පදිංචි පවුල් 48ක වතුකම්කරුවන් කොත්මලේ නව නගරයේ පාසල්වල පිහිටුවා තිබූ සුරක්ෂා කඳවුරුවල මාස තුනකට වැඩි කාලයක් රැඳී සිටියහ.

පසුව ජාතික ගොඩනැගිලි සහ පර්යේෂනායතනයේ වාර්තා වලට අනුව නැවතත් ඔවුන් පදිංචි නිවාස වලට යොමු කර ඇත.

දිට්වා සුලි කුණාටුවෙන් තම වතුයායට සහ පාලස අසළට කිලෝමීටර් 5ක දුරක් ස්ථාන කිහිපයකින් නාය ගොස් ඇති නිසා තමන්ට කොත්මල නගරයට පිවිසීමට පා ගමනින් යෑමට සිදු වී ඇති බවත්, වැවන්ඩන් වතුයායේ පිහිටි පාසලේ අධ්‍යාපනය ලැබූ තම දූදරුවන් වෙනත් පාසල්වලට අනියුත්ක කර ඇති නිසා එම පාසල් ළමුන්ටද පා ගමනින් යෑමට සිදු වී ඇති බවයි උද්ගෝෂණයේ නිරත වතු කම්කරුවන් කියා සිටියේ.‍

තම වතුයායට සහ පාසලට පිවිසීමට ඇති නාය ගොස් ඇති කිලෝමීටර් 5ක මාර්ගය ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණය කිරිමට නොහැකි නම්, ගම්පොළ නුවරඑළිය මාර්ගයේ ගැරඬිඇල්ල ප්‍රදේශයෙන් තම වතුයායට පිවිසීමට ඇති කිලෝමීටර 01 ක පමණ දුරකින් යුත් දැනට අබලන් තත්වයේ පවතින විකල්ප මාර්ගය හෝ ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණය කර දෙන ලෙසයි උද්ගෝෂණයේ නිරතව සිටි කොත්මලේ වැවන්ඩන් වතුයායේ වතු කම්කරුවන් කියා සිටියේ.

Cultivators Demand Urgent Restoration of Access Roads in Kotmale

In a passionate protest, cultivators residing near the Ditwa Sulakutana have called for immediate restoration of access roads leading to the Kotmale Wawandan plantation and a nearby school. With the recent devastating cyclone causing significant damage, the affected community expressed their concerns during a demonstration.

Reports indicate that approximately 48 families of cultivators were temporarily displaced, residing in emergency shelters set up at schools in the newly developed urban area of Kotmale for over three months.

According to observations from the National Building Research Organization, the families have since been directed to relocate to residential homes following the initial housing arrangements.

Due to multiple access points having been washed away by the cyclone, the cultivators have found themselves trekking long distances, nearly 5 kilometers, into the city of Kotmale. They pointed out that access to the plantation and the school has become more challenging, forcing children from the Wawandan plantation to attend different schools, further increasing their travel burdens.

The community raised serious concerns regarding the deteriorating state of the roads. They emphasized that if the primary access road, which spans around 5 kilometers, cannot be restored swiftly, alternative routes, including a one-kilometer path from the Gerandiella area on the Nuwara Eliya road, must be repaired without delay, as the existing options are severely inadequate.

Fully aware of the pressing situation, the cultivators reiterated their call for urgent attention to these matters to ensure safe and convenient access to their homes and educational institutions.
