 කියුබාවේ ජාතික විදුලි පද්ධතිය යළිත් වරක් බිඳ වැටීම හේතුවෙන් මුළු දිවයිනම අඳුරේ ගිලී තිබේ. මෙය සති දෙකකටත් අඩු කාලයක් තුළ එරට විදුලි පද්ධතිය මුළුමනින්ම අක්‍රිය වූ තෙවැනි අවස්ථාව බව බලධාරීහු තහවුරු කරති.

ඇමෙරිකානු ජනාධිපති ඩොනල්ඩ් ට්‍රම්ප් විසින් පනවා ඇති දැඩි තෙල් සම්බාධක හේතුවෙන් හටගෙන ඇති ඉන්ධන හිඟය මෙම අර්බුදයට ප්‍රධාන හේතුව වී ඇත. කියුබාවේ හෝල්ගුයින් පළාතේ පිහිටි ජනන යන්ත්‍රයක ඇති වූ තාක්ෂණික දෝෂයක් හේතුවෙන් මෙම විදුලි බිඳවැටීම සිදුව ඇති බව එරට බලශක්ති අමාත්‍යාංශය පවසයි.

විදුලිය නොමැති වීම නිසා කියුබාවේ ජන ජීවිතය මුළුමනින්ම අඩාල වී තිබේ. පොදු ප්‍රවාහන සේවා නතර වී ඇති අතර, රෝහල්වල සිදු කිරීමට නියමිතව තිබූ සැත්කම් දස දහස් ගණනක් අවලංගු කිරීමට බලධාරීන්ට සිදු විය. මීට අමතරව ජලය සැපයීම, අන්තර්ජාලය සහ දුරකථන සේවා ද දැඩි ලෙස බාධාවට ලක්ව ඇත.

කියුබාවට අවශ්‍ය ඉන්ධන අවශ්‍යතාවයෙන් දේශීයව නිපදවනු ලබන්නේ 40%ක් පමණක් වන අතර, ඇමෙරිකානු සම්බාධක හේතුවෙන් ඉතිරි ප්‍රමාණය ආනයනය කිරීමේ මගක් මෙතෙක් පෙනෙන්නට නැත.

වෙනිසියුලාවේ හිටපු ජනාධිපති නිකොලස් මදුරෝ අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමෙන් පසු, කියුබාවට ඉන්ධන සපයන ඕනෑම රටකට එරෙහිව බදු පනවන බවට ඇමෙරිකාව අනතුරු ඇඟවීය.

මෙම බලශක්ති සම්බාධක හේතුවෙන් කියුබාව නිහඬ ගාසා තීරයක් බවට පත්ව ඇති බව පසුගියදා එරට සංචාරය කළ ඇමෙරිකානු කොංග්‍රස් මණ්ඩලයේ ඩිමොක්‍රටික් පක්ෂ මන්ත්‍රීවරුන් සිව්දෙනෙකු පවසා තිබේ.

Cuba Faces Nationwide Blackout Amid Energy Crisis

Cuba has plunged into darkness once again due to a collapse of its national electrical system, marking the third complete power outage in less than two weeks. Authorities have confirmed this latest incident has left the entire nation without electricity.

The fuel shortage driving this crisis is primarily attributed to stringent oil sanctions imposed by former U.S. President Donald Trump. This blackout was further exacerbated by a technical failure in a generator located in the Holguín province, as reported by the Ministry of Energy and Mines.

The absence of electricity has severely disrupted daily life in Cuba. Public transportation services have come to a halt, and thousands of scheduled surgeries in hospitals have been canceled. Additionally, access to water, internet, and telephone services has been significantly hampered.

Currently, only about 40% of Cuba's fuel requirements are met through local production, and the ongoing American sanctions have impeded any possible imports to cover the remaining deficit.

In response to this crisis, the Ministry of Energy and Mines is prioritizing the restoration of electricity, especially in crucial facilities like hospitals and food processing centers. Reports indicate that some areas in the capital Havana and several hospitals in provinces such as Guantánamo are beginning to receive power again.

The United States has warned any country supplying fuel to Cuba could face sanctions following the arrest of former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

Cuban lawmakers from the Democratic Party, who recently visited the island, noted that the energy constraints have turned Cuba into a "silent Gaza Strip."

Similar power outages were reported as recently as March, exacerbating the challenges faced by more than 9 million Cubans currently enduring severe hardships due to the ongoing economic crisis.
