දුප්පත්කම පොහොසත්කම දක්වා ගෙන ඒමට වැඩසටහන්..

 ජාතික තේ ඉලක්කය වෙනුවෙන් “Ceylon Tea Village” (සිලෝන් ටී විලේජ්) ජාතික වැඩසටහන ආරම්භ විය. මීට සමගාමීව දිවයින පුරා තේ ගම්මාන 144ක් සමඟ පළමු අදියර ආරම්භ කෙරේ.

2030 වසර වන විට ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ නිමි තේ නිෂ්පාදනය කිලෝග්‍රෑම් මිලියන 400 දක්වාත්, තේ අපනයන ආදායම ඇමෙරිකානු ඩොලර් බිලියන 2.5 දක්වාත් ඉහළ නැංවීමේ ජාතික ඉලක්කය සාක්ෂාත් කර ගැනීමේ අරමුණින්, වැවිලි සහ ප්‍රජා යටිතල පහසුකම් අමාත්‍යාංශය විසින් “Ceylon Tea Village” (සිලෝන් ටී විලේජ්) හෙවත් තේ ගම්මාන 500ක් ස්ථාපිත කිරීමේ ජාතික වැඩසටහන ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීමට නියමිතය.

මෙම වැඩසටහන ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ කුඩා තේවතු අංශය නවීකරණය කිරීම, ගොවි ජනතාවගේ ජීවන තත්ත්වය ඉහළ නැංවීම සහ තේ කර්මාන්තයේ තිරසාර සංවර්ධනය වේගවත් කිරීම අරමුණු කර ගෙන ක්‍රියාත්මක කෙරේ.

මෙම වැඩසටහන යටතේ කුඩා තේවතු ගොවීන්ගේ දළු අස්වැන්න හා ඵලදායිතාව ඉහළ නැංවීම, ගොවි ආදායම වර්ධනය කිරීම, අගය එකතු කළ තේ නිෂ්පාදන ප්‍රවර්ධනය කිරීම, තේ කර්මාන්තය සංචාරක කර්මාන්තය සමඟ ඒකාබද්ධ කිරීම, නවීන හා තිරසාර වගා තාක්ෂණ හඳුන්වාදීම, යටිතල පහසුකම් සංවර්ධනය කිරීම සහ නිෂ්පාදන සමූපකාර ක්‍රමය ශක්තිමත් කිරීම ඇතුළු ප්‍රමුඛ අරමුණු රැසක් ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීමට සැලසුම් කර ඇත.

සෑම තේ ගම්මානයක් සඳහාම අධිඝණත්ව තේ වගා ආදර්ශන බිම්, නව තේ පැළ තවාන්, කුඩා තේ වතු සඳහා රක්ෂණ ආවරණයක්, කුඩා තේවතු ගොවීන් සඳහා විශ්‍රාම වැටුප් ක්‍රමයක්, සහනදායී ණය පහසුකම්, යාන්ත්‍රීකරණයට අත්වැල, Handmade තේ නිෂ්පාදනය සඳහා පුහුණුව හා උපකරණ, සංචාරක කර්මාන්තය සමඟ බද්ධ කිරීම, අතිරේක ආදායම් මාර්ග සංවර්ධනය සඳහා සහාය හා මඟපෙන්වීම, නිෂ්පාදන සමූපකාර ක්‍රමය ශක්තිමත් කිරීම, පුනර්ජනනීය කෘෂිකර්මාන්තය පිළිබඳ දැනුම හා පුහුණුව මෙන්ම යටිතල පහසුකම් සංවර්ධනය සඳහා ප්‍රමුඛතාව ලබාදෙන සමෝධානික තේ ගම්මාන සංවර්ධන පැකේජයක් ක්‍රියාත්මක කරනු ලැබේ.

මෙම වැඩසටහනේ පළමු අදියර යටතේ 2026 වසර තුළ දිවයින පුරා පිහිටි තේ පරීක්ෂක කොට්ඨාස 144ම ආවරණය වන පරිදි තේ ගම්මාන 144ක් ආරම්භ කිරීමට සැලසුම් කර ඇත. 

මහනුවර දිස්ත්‍රික් නායකයා වශයෙන් කෘෂිකර්ම, පශු සම්පත්, ඉඩම් සහ වාරිමාර්ග අමාත්‍ය කේ.ඩී. ලාල්කාන්ත මහතා මෙම වැඩසටහනට සම්බන්ධ වූ අතර, එහිදී අමාත්‍යවරයා මෙම අදහස් පළ කළේය.

“මෙම වැඩසටහනේ මූලික කාරණය වන්නේ ග්‍රාමීය දුප්පත්කම පොහොසත්කම දක්වා ගෙන ඒමයි. ඒ සඳහා ගමක යම් ප්‍රදේශයක ප්‍රධාන ආර්ථික කාරණය හඳුනා ගත යුතුයි. මේ ප්‍රදේශය ආශ්‍රිතව ප්‍රධානම ආර්ථික බෝගය තමයි කුඩා තේ වතු. ඒ අනුව මේ ප්‍රදේශයේ ග්‍රාමීය දුප්පත්කම නැති කිරීමට තමයි මේ තේ ගම්මාන 500 වැඩසටහන ක්‍රියාත්මක වෙන්නේ. මෙහිදී මේ ප්‍රදේශයේ ජනතාවගේ ආර්ථික ගැටළුවලට විසඳුම් සෙවීම මේ වැඩසටහනේ අරමුණක්. මේක සාර්ථක කර ගැනීමේදී අප මුහුණදෙන අභියෝග කිහිපයක් තියෙනවා. ඒ අභියෝග ජයගන්න තරමට තමයි අපිට මේක සාර්ථක කරගන්න පුළුවන් වෙන්නේ”

Ceylon Tea Village Initiative Launched to Boost National Tea Production

In a significant step towards revitalizing Sri Lanka's tea industry, the "Ceylon Tea Village" national initiative was officially launched. This program aims to establish 500 tea villages across the nation, beginning with the first phase that encompasses 144 tea-growing communities.

The ambitious goal is to elevate local tea production to 400 million kilograms and increase tea export revenues to $2.5 billion by 2030. The Ministry of Irrigation and Community Infrastructure is spearheading this program, which is designed to foster economic growth within the smallholder tea sector and improve the living standards of tea farmers.

Among its objectives, the program seeks to enhance the yield and quality of tea crops produced by small farmers, boost their income, promote value-added tea products, and integrate the tea industry with tourism. Furthermore, it aims to introduce modern and sustainable agricultural practices, develop essential infrastructure, and strengthen the production cooperative system.

Each tea village will feature high-density tea cultivation models, new tea plant nurseries, insurance coverage for small tea growers, pension schemes for farmers, and access to soft loans. Additionally, the program will provide support for mechanization, training and equipment for handmade tea production, and guidance on developing alternative income streams linked to tourism, as well as sustainable agriculture education.

Under the first phase of the initiative, all 144 tea inspector divisions across the country are set to be covered by 2026 as part of the establishment of the 144 tea villages.

K.D. Lal Kantha, the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land, and Environment for the Kandy District, discussed the importance of the project. He emphasized that the primary objective of the initiative is to transform rural poverty into prosperity. Identifying the dominant economic activity of each locality is essential, and in many areas, this is small-scale tea cultivation. The 500 tea village initiative aims to eliminate rural poverty in these regions, addressing the economic challenges faced by local communities as a core purpose of the program. However, Lal Kantha also acknowledged the various challenges that lie ahead in achieving these goals, emphasizing that overcoming these obstacles is crucial for the initiative's success.
