 ශ්‍රී ජයවර්ධනපුර මහා රෝහල සඳහා රෝහල් පරිපාලනය පිළිබඳ විශේෂඥ සුදුසුකම් සහිත අධ්‍යක්ෂවරයෙකු පත් කිරීමට සෞඛ්‍ය අමාත්‍යාංශය අපොහොසත් වීම හේතුවෙන් එම රෝහල දැඩි පරිපාලන අර්බුදයකට මුහුණ දී සිටින බව වෛද්‍ය හා සිවිල් අයිතිවාසිකම් පිළිබඳ වෛද්‍යවරුන්ගේ වෘත්තීය සමිති සන්ධානය පවසයි.

එම සන්ධානයේ සභාපති, විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍ය චමල් සංජීව මහතා පෙන්වා දෙන්නේ රෝහල් පරිපාලනය පිළිබඳ උපාධි සුදුසුකම් සපිරූ වෛද්‍යවරයෙකු හෝ විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍යවරයෙකු මෙම තනතුරට පත් කිරීමට බලධාරීන් වසරකට අධික කාලයක් තිස්සේ පියවර ගෙන නොමැති බවයි.

හිටපු ජනාධිපති ජේ.ආර්. ජයවර්ධන මහතාගේ පාලන සමයේදී ජපානයෙන් ලැබුණු පරිත්‍යාගයක් ලෙස ආරම්භ වූ මෙම රෝහල, මුල් අවධියේදී මෙරට ඉහළම ගුණාත්මකභාවයකින් යුතු සෞඛ්‍ය සේවාවක් සැපයූ ආයතනයක් ලෙස ප්‍රසිද්ධියට පත්ව තිබුණි. එහෙත් පසුකාලීනව රෝහල් පරිපාලනය සහ අධ්‍යක්ෂ මණ්ඩලය දේශපාලනීකරණය වීමත් සමඟ එම මහජන විශ්වාසය බරපතල ලෙස පළුදු වී ඇති බව විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍යවරයා සඳහන් කරයි.

රෝහල් සභාපති ධුරය ඇතුළු අධ්‍යක්ෂ මණ්ඩලයට රෝහලේ දියුණුව පිළිබඳ සැබෑ කැපවීමක් සහිත පිරිස් වෙනුවට දේශපාලන පත්වීම්ලාභීන් පත් කිරීම රෝහලේ අනාගතය අනතුරේ හෙළන්නක් බව වෛද්‍ය චමල් සංජීව මහතා අවධාරණය කරයි.

මෙම පරිපාලනමය බිඳ වැටීමේ සෘජු ප්‍රතිඵලයක් ලෙස, රෝහලෙන් ප්‍රතිකාර ලබා ගැනීමට පැමිණෙන රෝගීන්ට අවට පවතින පෞද්ගලික රෝහල් වෙත ගොස් අධික මුදලක් වැය කර ප්‍රතිකාර ලබා ගැනීමට සිදුව ඇති බව ද ඔහු පවසයි.

පවතින මෙම අර්බුදකාරී තත්ත්වය සමනය කර රෝහලේ ප්‍රමිතිය යළි ස්ථාපිත කිරීම සඳහා ජනාධිපතිවරයාගේ කඩිනම් අවධානය යොමු විය යුතු බව වෛද්‍ය හා සිවිල් අයිතිවාසිකම් පිළිබඳ වෛද්‍යවරුන්ගේ වෘත්තීය සමිති සන්ධානය වැඩිදුරටත් ඉල්ලා සිටියි.

Struggling at Sri Jayawardenepura Hospital Amid Administrative Crisis

The Sri Jayawardenepura Hospital is currently facing a significant administrative crisis following the Health Ministry's failure to appoint a qualified hospital administrator. The Medical and Civil Rights Professionals Collective has raised concerns about the impact of this oversight on the hospital's functioning.

Chamal Sanjeeva, the president of the collective and a specialist doctor, emphasized that for over a year, authorities have not taken any steps to appoint a qualified medical professional or someone with relevant expertise to this critical position.

Originally established as a donation from Japan during the presidency of J.R. Jayewardene, the hospital was once renowned for delivering high-quality healthcare services. However, as hospital management and the board of directors became increasingly politicized, the public's trust in the institution has severely deteriorated.

Recent discussions during public business meetings have revealed serious assessments of the hospital's administrative weaknesses and financial irregularities. In light of these findings, Sanjeeva pointed out that instead of appointing a suitably qualified administrator, individuals lacking the necessary credentials have been attempting to manage the hospital due to various political connections, which has placed all staff, including specialist doctors, in a challenging situation.

He cautioned that the appointment of politically connected individuals instead of dedicated professionals to critical positions, such as the hospital board and administration, could jeopardize the future of the facility.

As a direct result of this administrative breakdown, patients are reportedly spending excessive amounts on treatment at nearby private hospitals rather than receiving care at Sri Jayawardenepura Hospital.

The Medical and Civil Rights Professionals Collective has urged the President to urgently focus on addressing this crisis in order to restore the hospital's standards and ensure it can provide the quality healthcare that patients deserve.
