බන්ධනාගාරයේ අද දහවල් කාලයේදී රැඳවියන් කණ්ඩායම් දෙකක් අතර ඇති වූ දරුණු ගැටුමකින් රැඳවියන් දෙදෙනෙකු ජීවිතක්ෂයට පත්ව තවත් 34 දෙනෙකු තුවාල ලබා තිබේ.
මෙම නොසන්සුන්කාරී තත්ත්වය හේතුවෙන් තුවාල ලැබූ රැඳවියන් 34 දෙනෙකු මේ වන විට ප්රතිකාර සඳහා මීගමුව රෝහලට ඇතුළත් කර ඇති අතර, මියගිය පුද්ගලයන් දෙදෙනාගේ සිරුරු ද එම රෝහලේම තැන්පත් කර තිබේ.
බන්ධනාගාරය තුළ ඇති වූ මෙම කලහකාරී තත්ත්වය පාලනය කිරීම සඳහා මීගමුව සහ ඒ අවට පොලිස් ස්ථානවල නිලධාරීන් මෙන්ම පොලිස් විශේෂ කාර්ය බලකාය (STF) ද වහාම ක්රියාත්මක වන පරිදි කැඳවීමට බලධාරීන් පියවර ගෙන තිබුණි.
ආරක්ෂක අංශවල දැඩි පරිශ්රමයකින් පසු මේ වන විට බන්ධනාගාරයේ තත්ත්වය පාලනය කර ඇති අතර, පරිශ්රය අවට ආරක්ෂාව ද තර කර ඇත.
ගැටුම හටගැනීමට හේතුව මෙතෙක් නිශ්චිතව අනාවරණය වී නොමැති අතර, බන්ධනාගාර දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව සහ පොලිසිය එක්ව සිද්ධිය සම්බන්ධයෙන් පුළුල් විමර්ශනයක් ආරම්භ කර තිබේ.
Violence Erupts in Meegamuwa Prison, Casualties Reported
A protest by a group of inmates on the roof of the Meegamuwa Prison turned chaotic when the structure collapsed, injuring several prisoners. Reports indicate that the incident occurred during a violent clash between two groups of inmates earlier this afternoon, which resulted in the unfortunate deaths of two individuals and injuries to another 34.
Following the unrest, the injured prisoners were swiftly transported to Meegamuwa Hospital for treatment, where the bodies of the deceased have also been secured.
To manage the explosive situation within the prison, authorities immediately mobilized officers from Meegamuwa and nearby police stations, along with the Special Task Force (STF) to restore order.
After a concerted effort from security forces, the situation in the prison has been brought under control, and heightened security measures have been implemented around the facility.
The exact cause of the violent confrontation remains unclear at this time, prompting both the Prison Department and the police to initiate a thorough investigation into the incident.
