කිලෝමීටර 2.3ක අතුරු මාර්ගය හදන්න කෝටි 499යි..

කොළඹ නුවර (A1) ප්‍රධාන මාර්ගයේ වරකාපොල නගරය ආශ්‍රිතව පවතින දැඩි රථවාහන තදබදයට ස්ථිර විසඳුමක් ලබාදීමේ අරමුණින්, වරකාපොල සිට අඹේපුස්ස දක්වා ඉදිවන නව විකල්ප මාර්ගයේ ඉදිකිරීම් කටයුතු  (24) නිල වශයෙන් ආරම්භ විය.

ප්‍රවාහන හා මහාමාර්ග නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය වෛද්‍ය ප්‍රසන්න ගුණසේන මහතාගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන් මෙම සමාරම්භක උත්සවය පැවැත්විණි.

වරකාපොල නගරය තුළ පවතින තදබදය නිසා මගීන්ට සිදුවන කාලය නාස්තිය, අනවශ්‍ය ලෙස ඉන්ධන අපතේ යාම සහ නගරාශ්‍රිතව මතුව ඇති පාරිසරික ගැටලු සැලකිල්ලට ගනිමින් මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය ක්‍රියාත්මක කෙරේ. මාර්ගය භාවිත කරන්නන්ගේ ආරක්ෂාව තහවුරු කිරීම ද මෙහි තවත් ප්‍රධාන අරමුණකි.

කිලෝමීටර් 2.32ක දිගින් යුත් මෙම මාර්ගය මීටර් 3.5ක පළලින් යුත් මංතීරු දෙකකින් සමන්විත වේ. ව්‍යාපෘතිය සඳහා ඇස්තමේන්තුගත මුදල රුපියල් මිලියන 4,998කි.

ප්‍රවාහන, මහාමාර්ග සහ නාගරික සංවර්ධන අමාත්‍යාංශයේ මෙහෙයවීමෙන් සහ මාර්ග සංවර්ධන අධිකාරියේ පූර්ණ අධීක්ෂණය යටතේ සිදුකෙරෙන මෙම ඉදිකිරීම් කටයුතු ඉදිරි වසර දෙක ඇතුළත අවසන් කිරීමට සැලසුම් කර ඇත. ව්‍යාපෘතියේ කොන්ත්‍රාත්කරු ලෙස මාගා ඉංජිනියරින් (පුද්.) සමාගම කටයුතු කරයි.

New Alternative Route Construction Begins to Alleviate Traffic Congestion in Warakapola

In a significant step towards addressing the severe traffic congestion on the A1 main road in Colombo-Nuwara, the construction of a new alternative route from Warakapola to Ambepussa has officially commenced. This project aims to provide a long-term solution to the transportation challenges faced in the area.

The inaugural ceremony for this vital infrastructure project was led by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways, Dr. Prasanna Gunasekara.

The initiative comes in response to the mounting issues caused by traffic jams in Warakapola, which result in lost time for commuters, unnecessary fuel wastage, and environmental concerns in the vicinity. Ensuring the safety of road users is another key objective of this endeavor.

The proposed route spans 2.32 kilometers and consists of two lanes, each 3.5 meters wide. The estimated cost of the project is approximately 4.998 million rupees.

Managed by the Ministry of Transport, Highways, and Urban Development, and under the careful oversight of the Road Development Authority, the construction is scheduled to be completed within the next two years. The project is being executed by Maga Engineering (Pvt) Ltd as the prime contractor.
