රජය විසින් ඔක්ටේන් 92 වර්ගයේ පෙට්‍රල් ලීටරයක මිල රුපියල් 15කින් අඩු කළද, ත්‍රිරෝද රථ ගාස්තු විධිමත් ලෙස සංශෝධනය කිරීමට මෙතෙක් නීතිමය අවකාශයක් ලැබී නොමැති බව සමස්ත ලංකා ත්‍රිරෝද රථ රියදුරන්ගේ සහ හිමිකරුවන්ගේ සංගමය පවසයි.

අද දෙරණ පුවත් සේවය වාර්තා කරන පරිදි, එම සංගමයේ ප්‍රධාන ලේකම් රෝහණ පෙරේරා මහතා සඳහන් කළේ රජය එක් පසෙකින් කිරිපිටි සහ පාන්පිටි මිල ඉහළ නංවමින්, අනෙක් පසින් ඉන්ධන මිල සුළු වශයෙන් අඩු කිරීම කට්ට කයිරාටික ක්‍රියාවක් බවයි.

ත්‍රිරෝද රථ ගාස්තු නියාමනය කිරීම සඳහා වන යෝජනා ජාතික ගමනාගමන කොමිෂන් සභාව විසින් අමාත්‍යාංශය වෙත භාර දී ඇති අතර, ඊට කැබිනට් අනුමැතිය ද හිමිව තිබේ.

දැනට එම කෙටුම්පත නීතිපතිවරයා වෙත යොමු කර ඇති අතර, එය පාර්ලිමේන්තුවේ සම්මත වී කථානායකවරයා අත්සන් තැබීමෙන් පසු නීතියක් බවට පත්වනු ඇත.

එතෙක් පවතින පැරණි ගාස්තු ක්‍රමය, එනම් පළමු කිලෝමීටරයට රුපියල් 110ක් සහ දෙවන කිලෝමීටරයේ සිට රුපියල් 90ක් යන සීමාවන් තුළ රැඳී සිටීමට සිදුව ඇති බවත්, එහෙත් ප්‍රායෝගිකව මාර්ගවල විවිධ ගාස්තු අය කෙරෙන බවත් ඔහු පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

බස්නාහිර පළාත් මාර්ගස්ථ මගී ප්‍රවාහන අධිකාරියට මිල පාලනය සඳහා මැදිහත් විය නොහැකි බව පවසා ඇති බැවින්, ජාතික ගමනාගමන කොමිෂන් සභාව හරහා මෙම නියාමනය කඩිනමින් නීතිගත කරන ලෙස ඔහු රජයෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටියි.

Government Cuts Octane 92 Petrol Price Amidst Concerns Over Three-Wheeler Fare Regulations

In a recent move, the government has reduced the price of Octane 92 petrol by Rs. 15 per liter. However, the All Sri Lanka Three-Wheeler Drivers and Owners Association has expressed concerns that there has been no legal framework established for the systematic adjustment of three-wheeler fares.

According to reports from Derana News, the association's General Secretary, Rohana Perera, highlighted the contradictory nature of the government's actions. He pointed out that while the prices of milk powder and bread have seen increases, the slight reduction in fuel prices appears to be a superficial gesture.

Proposals to regulate three-wheeler fares have been submitted to the Ministry by the National Transport Commission, receiving the necessary cabinet approval. Presently, the draft legislation is with the Attorney General and will transition into law once approved by Parliament and signed by the Speaker.

Until such changes are enacted, existing fare structures remain in place, with charges of Rs. 110 for the first kilometer and Rs. 90 for each subsequent kilometer. Perera noted, however, that practical fares often vary with different charges being levied on the roads.

Furthermore, the Western Province Passenger Transport Authority has indicated that it is unable to mediate price controls. In light of this, Perera has called on the government to expedite the legal implementation of these necessary regulations through the National Transport Commission.
