 රාජ්‍ය අංශයේ ඉහළ නිලධාරීන් සහ අමාත්‍යවරුන් සඳහා අනවශ්‍ය ලෙස විශාල සහ සුඛෝපභෝගී කාර්යාල කාමර ඉදිකිරීම වහාම තහනම් කළ යුතු බව ප්‍රවාහන, මහාමාර්ග, වරාය සහ සිවිල් ගුවන් සේවා අමාත්‍ය බිමල් රත්නායක මහතා පවසයි.

අමාත්‍යවරයා මේ බව සඳහන් කළේ උත්සවයක් අමතමිනි.

මෙහිදී වැඩිදුරටත් අදහස් දැක්වූ අමාත්‍යවරයා පෙන්වා දුන්නේ, වර්තමානයේ පවතින සාම්ප්‍රදායික, බිත්තිවලින් වටවූ, අඳුරු සහ "හිරගෙවල් වැනි" කාර්යාල ක්‍රමයෙන් බැහැර වී නවීන කාර්යාල අවකාශ කළමනාකරණ (Modern Office Space Management) ක්‍රමවේදයන්ට මෙරට රාජ්‍ය අංශය හුරු විය යුතු බවයි.

"මගේ මහාමාර්ග අමාත්‍යංශයේ මම ඉන්න කාර්යාලය ගත්තොත් ඒක ටෙනිස් පිටියක් විතර ලොකුයි. ඇත්තටම මෙවැනි විශාල කාර්යාල හැදීම තහනම් කළ යුතුයි. කාර්යාලයක් කියන්නේ තමන්ගේ තනතුර හෝ 'ඊගෝ' එක පෙන්වන තැනක් නෙවෙයි. අපිට සුදුසුකම් තියෙනවා නම් වැඩ කරන්න කුඩා කාර්යාලයක් වුණත් ප්‍රමාණවත්. කාර්යාලයේ විශාලත්වයෙන් පෞරුෂය හදාගන්න අපිට අවශ්‍ය නැහැ."

සමහර කාර්යාලවල පවතින එක් පුටුවක මිල සාමාන්‍ය මිනිසෙකුට නිවසක් සෑදීමට යන වියදමට සමාන බවත්, එවැනි මානසිකත්වයකින් බැහැර විය යුතු බවත් ඔහු අවධාරණය කළේය.

ඉහළ නිලධාරීන් සහ අමාත්‍යවරුන් කණ්ඩායමක් ලෙස වැඩ කළ හැකි 'වර්ක් ස්ටේෂන්' (Workstation) ආකෘතියට මාරු විය යුතු බවත්, එමගින් වඩාත් කාර්යක්ෂම සේවාවක් ලබා දිය හැකි බවත් අමාත්‍ය බිමල් රත්නායක මහතා වැඩිදුරටත් ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

Bimal Ratnayake Calls for an End to Excessive Office Spaces in Public Sector

Transportation, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation Minister Bimal Ratnayake has urged an immediate ban on the construction of lavish office spaces for state officials and ministers, citing the need for more practical and efficiency-driven work environments.

Addressing a gathering, Ratnayake emphasized the importance of moving away from traditional office structures, which he described as dark and prison-like, towards modern office space management practices that reflect today's professional standards.

He remarked, "If I take a look at my office in the Ministry of Highways, it's almost the size of a tennis court. Such expansive office spaces should be prohibited. An office should not be a place to showcase one's position or ego. Even a small office is sufficient if we have the right qualifications to do our jobs." He stressed that there is no need to measure one's status by the size of their office.

Highlighting disparities in governmental spending, Ratnayake pointed out that the cost of a single chair in some offices is comparable to the expense of building a house for an average person, and he insisted that this mentality must be abandoned.

Furthermore, he advocated for a shift towards a 'workstation' model that promotes teamwork among high-ranking officials and ministers. By adopting this approach, he believes the government would provide more efficient services to the public.
