 එයාර් බස් ගුවන් යානා මිලදී ගැනීමේ ගනුදෙනුවට අදාළව ඇමරිකානු ඩොලර් ලක්ෂ 08 ක අල්ලසක් ලබාගත් බවට එල්ල වූ චෝදනාව මත අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී නාමල් රාජපක්ෂ මහතා ලබන 18 වනදා දක්වා රක්ෂිත බන්ධනාගාරගත කර තිබේ.

මන්ත්‍රීවරයාගේ ආරක්ෂාව පිළිබඳව පවතින විශේෂ අවශ්‍යතාව සැලකිල්ලට ගනිමින් මෙම පියවර ගත් බව බන්ධනාගාර උසස් නිලධාරියෙකු ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

මීට පෙර, එයාර් බස් ගනුදෙනුව සම්බන්ධයෙන් ප්‍රකාශයක් ලබාදීම සඳහා අල්ලස් හෝ දූෂණ චෝදනා විමර්ශන කොමිෂන් සභාව වෙත පැමිණි අවස්ථාවේදී මන්ත්‍රීවරයා අත්අඩංගුවට ගනු ලැබීය.

මහත් ආන්දෝලනයකට තුඩු දුන් මෙම ගුවන් යානා මිලදී ගැනීමේ සිද්ධියේදී ඇමරිකානු ඩොලර් 800,000 ක මුදලක් අල්ලස් වශයෙන් ලබාගත් බවට ඔහුට එරෙහිව චෝදනා එල්ල වී ඇත.

දින 14 ක කාලයක් සඳහා රක්ෂිත බන්ධනාගාරගත කර සිටින මන්ත්‍රීවරයා ලබන 18 වනදා නැවත අධිකරණය වෙත ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමට නියමිතය.

Sri Lankan MP Namal Rajapaksa Detained Over Alleged Bribery in Aircraft Deal

Namal Rajapaksa, a member of parliament and national organizer for the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna party, has been remanded until the 18th of this month on allegations of accepting a bribe of 800,000 US dollars related to the purchase of Airbus aircraft.

Following a court order, Rajapaksa is currently housed in a special facility at the Colombo Remand Prison, as confirmed by prison sources. This decision was made considering specific security needs surrounding the MP.

Reports suggest that along with Rajapaksa, approximately ten other detainees are also being held in the same special facility.

Rajapaksa was taken into custody when he appeared before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption to provide a statement regarding the aircraft deal.

The scandal involving the aircraft purchase has sparked significant public outrage, with allegations claiming that Rajapaksa received the substantial bribe. He is set to be presented in court again on the 18th, following the 14-day remand period.
