රත්නපුර සිල්වර් රේ හෝටල් පරිශ්රයේදී අගෝස්තු 31 සිට සැප්තැම්බර් 02 දක්වා පැවැත්වුණු ‘Gem City රත්නපුර ජාත්යන්තර මැණික් හා ස්වර්ණාභරණ ප්රදර්ශනය 2026’ සාර්ථකව අවසන් විය.
ප්රදර්ශනයේ අවසන් දිනට එක්වූ කර්මාන්ත නියෝජ්ය අමාත්ය චතුරංග අබේසිංහ මහතා සඳහන් කළේ, පෙර වසරට සාපේක්ෂව මෙවර දැක්වූ විශාල සහභාගීත්වය ශ්රී ලංකාවේ මැණික් හා ස්වර්ණාභරණ කර්මාන්තයේ නව පිබිදීමක් පෙන්නුම් කරන බවයි.
ශ්රී ලංකාව සතු මැණික් හා ස්වර්ණාභරණ ක්ෂේත්රයේ ඇමරිකානු ඩොලර් බිලියන 3ක පමණ විභවය යථාර්ථයක් බවට පත් කරමින්, මැණික් පතල් කැනීමේ සිට අගය එකතු කිරීම, නිෂ්පාදනය සහ අපනයනය දක්වා සමස්ත වටිනාකම් දාමය ශක්තිමත් කර රත්නපුරය ජාත්යන්තර මැණික් කර්මාන්තයේ ප්රධාන කේන්ද්රස්ථානය බවට පත් කිරීම රජයේ ප්රමුඛ අරමුණක් බවද ඔහු අවධාරණය කළේය.
ඒ සඳහා මැණික් කර්මාන්තයේ අනුප්රේක්ෂණ හැකියාව සහ ගෝලීය විශ්වාසය වර්ධනය කිරීම, ආනයන හා අපනයන ක්රියාවලීන් සරල කිරීම, අවශ්ය නීති හා පහසුකම් සැපයීම, නව පරපුරේ කුසලතා සංවර්ධනය සහ පර්යේෂණ හා දැනුම ව්යාප්ත කිරීම සඳහා රජය කටයුතු කරමින් සිටින බව නියෝජ්ය අමාත්යවරයා සඳහන් කළේය.
මෙවර ප්රදර්ශනය සඳහා ඉන්දියාව, පාකිස්තානය, තායිලන්තය, ඇමරිකාව, චීනය, ජපානය සහ පෝලන්තය ඇතුළු රටවල් රැසක ජාත්යන්තර ව්යවසායකයින් සහභාගී වූ අතර, දේශීය ව්යවසායකයින්ට සිය නිෂ්පාදන ජාත්යන්තර වෙළෙඳපොළ වෙත රැගෙන යාමටද මෙය වැදගත් වේදිකාවක් විය.

Successful Conclusion of 'Gem City Ratnapura International Gem and Jewelry Exhibition 2026'
The 'Gem City Ratnapura International Gem and Jewelry Exhibition 2026' wrapped up successfully from August 31 to September 2 at the Silver Ray Hotel in Ratnapura. The event showcased an impressive array of gems and jewelry, attracting significant attention from both local and international stakeholders.
On the final day of the exhibition, Deputy Minister of Industry Chathuranga Abeysinghe highlighted the increased participation this year compared to previous years, signaling a resurgence in Sri Lanka's gem and jewelry sector.
He emphasized that garnering approximately USD 3 billion in revenue from the industry is now a tangible goal. Strengthening the value chain from mining to value addition, production, and export is a key objective for the government, aiming to establish Ratnapura as a central hub in the international gem trade.
To achieve this, the government is working to enhance oversight capabilities in the gem sector, build global trust, simplify import and export processes, provide necessary regulations and facilities, develop new generation skills, and promote research and knowledge dissemination.
This year’s exhibition featured international participants from countries including India, Pakistan, Thailand, the United States, China, Japan, and Poland, providing a significant platform for local entrepreneurs to present their products to the global market.
Among the attendees were Tourism Deputy Minister Prof. Ruwan Ranasinghe, various parliamentarians, and key officials, including Secretary to the Ministry of Industry J.M. Thilaka Jayasundara, and representatives from local and international gem enterprises.
Prof. Ruwan Ranasinghe served as the chief guest at the event, which also attracted other parliamentarians such as Dr. Janaka Senarathna, Vasantha Pushpakumara, and Sunil Rajapaksha, alongside industry leaders and officials from the Gem and Jewelry Research and Training Institute and the National Gem and Jewelry Authority.
