 මීට වසර හතරකට පෙර බංකොලොත් තත්ත්වයේ පැවති ශ්‍රී ලංකාව, වත්මන් පාලනය යටතේ අද වන විට මැදි ආදායම්ලාභී රටක් බවට පත් කිරීමට හැකි වී ඇති බව නාගරික සංවර්ධන නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය එරංග ගුණසේකර මහතා අවධාරණය කළේය.

තලවකැලේ, කොටගල ප්‍රදේශයේ පැවති සමාජවාදී තරුණ සංගමයේ නුවරඑළිය දිස්ත්‍රික් සමුළුව අමතමින් නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍යවරයා මේ බව ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

එහිදී වැඩිදුරටත් අදහස් දැක්වූ නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍යවරයා පෙන්වා දුන්නේ, වැඩිම විදේශ මුදල් ප්‍රමාණයක් රට තුළට ගලා එන මෙන්ම රේගු බදු ඇතුළු රාජ්‍ය ආදායම ඉහළම මට්ටමකට ළඟා කරගත් රටක් බවට ශ්‍රී ලංකාව පත්වෙමින් පවතින බවයි.

ඉතිහාසයේ ප්‍රථම වතාවට රටේ රුපියල් සහ ඩොලර් සංචිත ශක්තිමත්ව පිරෙන්නට පටන් ගෙන ඇති බව ද හෙතෙම සඳහන් කළේය.

"භාණ්ඩාගාරයේ රුපියල් සහ ඩොලර් පිරෙන්න පටන් ගත්තේ කිසිදු මැජික් එකකින් නෙවෙයි. මහජනතාවගේ බදු මුදලුත්, රටට ලැබෙන විදේශ විනිමයත් නයෙක් මැණිකක් රකිනවා වගේ ආරක්ෂා කරන්න අපේ ආණ්ඩුව මැදිහත් වූ නිසයි.

මීට පෙර රට පාලනය කළ අයගේ කාලයේ මේ පෙට්ටිවල යටින් විශාල හිල් තිබුණා. කොපමණ පිරෙව්වත් ඒ අය යටින් හොරෙන් ඇදලා තමන්ගේ ගිණුම්වලට දාගත්තා. වත්මන් රජය පත් වූ පසු සිදුකළේ ඒ සියලුම හොර හිල් සදහටම වසා දැමීමයි," යනුවෙන් නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍යවරයා පැවසීය.

එලෙස රාජ්‍ය ධනය සුරක්ෂිත කිරීම හේතුවෙන් ජනතාව ඉල්ලූ ප්‍රමාණයටත් වඩා වැටුප් වැඩිවීම් ලබාදීමට රජයට හැකි වූ බව පෙන්වා දුන් ඒ මහතා, වතුකරයේ ඇතුළු මෙරට වැඩකරන ජනතාව අතීතයේ පටන් පීඩාවට පත්වූයේ ඔවුන්ගේ වරදකින් නොව, වසර ගණනාවක් රට පාලනය කරමින් ජනතාව සූරාකෑ සිංහල, දෙමළ හා මුස්ලිම් සම්ප්‍රදායික පාලකයන්ගේ අදූරදර්ශී ක්‍රියාකලාපය නිසා බව ද වැඩිදුරටත් අවධාරණය කළේය.

Sri Lanka Transitions to a Middle-Income Nation, Claims Deputy Minister

Eranga Gunasekara, Deputy Minister of Urban Development, highlighted Sri Lanka's remarkable transformation from an economically distressed nation four years ago to its current status as a middle-income country under the present governance.

Addressing the district conference of the Socialist Youth Union in Talawakelle, Kotagala, Gunasekara elaborated on the significant strides made in enhancing the national economy.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that Sri Lanka has secured a record influx of foreign currency and reached unprecedented levels of state revenue, including customs duties, which have contributed to the country’s evolving financial landscape.

For the first time in history, the country has begun to see its Rupee and Dollar reserves strengthen significantly, he noted.

"The filling of our treasury is not the result of any magic; it is due to the intervention of our government to safeguard public tax revenues and the foreign exchange inflow like precious gems," Gunasekara stated.

He also pointed out that in the past, a substantial amount of wealth was hidden under the surface of the treasury, with previous administrations allegedly siphoning funds into their personal accounts regardless of how much was deposited. "The current government has made it a priority to permanently close off all avenues for such corruption," he added.

Gunasekara further highlighted that protecting state funds has enabled the government to provide salary increases that exceed public demands. He stressed that the hardships endured by workers in the plantations and other sectors were not due to their own failures but a result of decades-long governance by short-sighted traditional leaders from the Sinhala, Tamil, and Muslim communities.
