ප‍්‍රියංකර පෙරේරා අවසන් ගමන් යයි...

මෙරට සංගීත සහ රංගන ක්ෂේත්‍රයේ දශක හතරකට ආසන්න කාලයක් නොමැකෙන සලකුණු තැබූ ප්‍රවීණ කලාකරු ප්‍රියංකර පෙරේරා මහතා අභාවප්‍රාප්ත විය.

කලක් රෝගාතුරව සිටි ඒ මහතා කොළඹ ජාතික රෝහලේ දැඩි සත්කාර ඒකකයේ ප්‍රතිකාර ලබමින් සිටියදී ඊයේ (01) රාත්‍රියේ අභාවප්‍රාප්ත වන විට 64 වන වියේ පසුවිය.

මෙරට සංගීත ක්ෂේත්‍රයේ අසහාය ගායකයෙකු වූ අභාවප්‍රාප්ත මිල්ටන් පෙරේරා මහතාගේ සහ කල්‍යාණි පෙරේරා මහත්මියගේ වැඩිමහල් පුත්‍රයා ලෙස උපත ලැබූ ප්‍රියංකර පෙරේරා, කොළඹ ශාන්ත පීතර විද්‍යාලයේ ආදි සිසුවෙකි.

පියාගේ මියුරු හඬ උරුම කරගනිමින් සංගීත ක්ෂේත්‍රයට පිවිසි ඔහු, හුදෙක් පියාගේ ගීත ගැයීමට පමණක් සීමා නොවී තමන්ටම ආවේණික ගායන ශෛලියක් ගොඩනගා ගැනීමට සමත් විය.

80 සහ 90 දශකවල මෙරට පැවති 'කැසට් යුගයේ' අතිශය ජනප්‍රියත්වයට පත් වූ ඔහු, 'සිහින දෙව්දුවේ' ගීතය හරහා ප්‍රේක්ෂක ආකර්ෂණය දිනා ගත්තේය.

ඔහු ගැයූ 'රන් පොකුණෙන් දිය නාගෙන එන්නේ', 'පිස්සු විකාරේ', 'අගාධ සාගරයේ', 'සමාන වී ඉපදී දිවි තලාවේ' සහ 'පෙර ආත්මයක එක රාත්‍රියක' වැනි ගීත අදටත් රසිකයන් අතර බෙහෙවින් ජනප්‍රියය. ගායනයට අමතරව ඔහු දක්ෂ බේස් ගිටාර් වාදන ශිල්පියෙකු ලෙස ද ප්‍රකටව සිටියේය.

ගායනයට පමණක් නොව රංගනයට ද සිය දක්ෂතා විහිදුවාලූ ප්‍රියංකර පෙරේරා මහතා, මෙරට සිනමාවේ සහ ටෙලිනාට්‍ය ක්ෂේත්‍රයේ කැපී පෙනෙන චරිත රැසකට පණ පෙවීය. 'සුජාතා' (නව නිෂ්පාදනය) වැනි චිත්‍රපටවල මෙන්ම ජනප්‍රිය ටෙලිනාට්‍ය රැසක ඔහු රංගනයෙන් දායක විය. 

ප්‍රියංකර පෙරේරා මහතා මෙරට ප්‍රවීණ රංගන ශිල්පිනී දිල්හානි ඒකනායක මහත්මියගේ ආදරණීය ස්වාමිපුරුෂයා වන අතර, ඔවුන්ගේ එකම පුත්‍රයා දුමින්ද පෙරේරා වේ. ගායන ශිල්පී චලක චමුපති මහතා ඔහුගේ සහෝදරයාය. 

ප්‍රියංකර පෙරේරා මහතාගේ දේහය අද (02) කොළඹ පෞද්ගලික මල් ශාලාවක තැන්පත් කර ඇති අතර, අවසන් කටයුතු පිළිබඳ තොරතුරු පවුලේ ඥාතීන් විසින් පසුව දැනුම් දීමට නියමිතය.

Veteran Sri Lankan Artist Priyankara Perera Passes Away at 64

Sri Lanka's music and performing arts scene has suffered a significant loss with the passing of veteran artist Priyankara Perera, who has left an indelible mark over nearly four decades. He died last night (January 1) while receiving treatment in the intensive care unit at Colombo's National Hospital, succumbing to a prolonged illness at the age of 64.

Born as the eldest son of popular singer Milton Perera and Kalyani Perera, Priyankara's childhood was rooted in the rich musical heritage of his family. He was an early student at St. Peter's College in Colombo, where he honed his artistic talents.

Following in his father's footsteps, he entered the music industry not only as a performer of his father’s songs but also forged his unique vocal style. He gained significant popularity during the cassette era of the 1980s and 1990s, captivating audiences with hits like "Sihina Dewduwe."

His notable songs, including "Ran Pokunhen Diya Nagenne," "Pissu Vikare," "Agadha Sagaraye," "Samana Vee Ipadee Dheevi Talaye," and "Pera Atma Yak Eka Raatriyaka," continue to resonate with music lovers today. Beyond singing, he was also a skilled bass guitarist, prominent in the music scene.

Priyankara Perera ventured into acting, showcasing his skills in various Sinhalese films and television dramas, including the recently produced film "Sujatha" and numerous popular TV serials.

He was the beloved husband of renowned actress Dilhani Ekanayake, and their only son is Duminda Perera. Additionally, famed singer Chalaka Chamupathi is his brother.

His remains were laid to rest today (January 2) at a private funeral home in Colombo, with the family planning to announce details regarding the final rites shortly.
