මහනුවර පොල්ගොල්ල මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ රඟහල සඳහා පුටු මිලදී ගැනීමේදී සිදුවූ බව කියන මූල්‍ය අක්‍රමිකතාවක් සම්බන්ධයෙන් ප්‍රකාශයක් ලබාදීමට පැමිණි හිටපු අමාත්‍ය ජොන්ස්ටන් ප්‍රනාන්දු මහතා අද (04) පෙරවරුවේ අල්ලස් හෝ දූෂණ චෝදනා විමර්ශන කොමිෂන් සභාව විසින් අත්අඩංගුවට ගනු ලැබීය.

අද පෙරවරුවේ කොමිසම හමුවේ පෙනී සිටි ඒ මහතාගෙන් නිලධාරීන් විසින් ප්‍රකාශ සටහන් කර ගැනීමෙන් අනතුරුව මෙම අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීම සිදු කර තිබේ.

2012 වසරේදී ජොන්ස්ටන් ප්‍රනාන්දු මහතා සමුපකාර හා අභ්‍යන්තර වෙළඳ අමාත්‍යවරයා ලෙස කටයුතු කළ සමයේ, අදාළ රඟහල සඳහා රුපියල් ලක්ෂ 74ක් වැය කර පුටු මිලදී ගැනීමේදී නියමිත ප්‍රසම්පාදන හා ටෙන්ඩර් පටිපාටිය උල්ලංඝනය කරමින් රජයට පාඩුවක් සිදුකළ බවට ඒ මහතාට චෝදනා එල්ල වී ඇත.

අමාත්‍යාංශය මගින් ටෙන්ඩර් කැඳවා තිබියදී එය නොසලකා හරිමින් වෙනත් පුද්ගලයෙකු මාර්ගයෙන් මෙම පුටු මිලදී ගැනීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් අල්ලස් කොමිසම පුළුල් විමර්ශනයක් පවත්වාගෙන යනු ලබයි.

මීට පෙර අවස්ථාවකදී ද ප්‍රකාශයක් ලබාදීම සඳහා ඒ මහතාට කොමිසම හමුවේ පෙනී සිටින ලෙස දන්වා තිබුණද, තමන් අසනීප තත්ත්වයෙන් පසුවන බව පවසමින් ඔහු එදින පැමිණීම මගහැර තිබුණි.

අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් හිටපු අමාත්‍යවරයා අද දින අධිකරණය වෙත ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමට නියමිත බව වාර්තා වේ.

මෙම සිද්ධිය සම්බන්ධයෙන් එවකට අමාත්‍යාංශ ලේකම්වරයාගෙන් ද කොමිසම මීට පෙර ප්‍රකාශ සටහන් කරගෙන තිබුණි.

Former Minister Johnston Fernando Arrested Over Alleged Financial Misconduct

Johnston Fernando, a former Sri Lankan minister, was arrested this morning by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption as he appeared before the commission to provide a statement regarding alleged financial irregularities related to the procurement of seats for the Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre in Kandy.

The arrest followed the recording of his statement by officials from the commission earlier today. Fernando, who served as the Minister of Cooperatives and Internal Trade in 2012, is accused of violating procurement procedures and tender regulations during the purchase of seats costing 7.4 million rupees for the theatre, resulting in a loss to the government.

According to investigations, the purchase was conducted through a third party without adhering to the tender process the ministry had initiated. The commission is conducting a comprehensive inquiry into the matter.

Previously, Fernando had been notified to appear before the commission for questioning but failed to do so, citing health problems at the time.

Reports indicate that he is set to be presented before the court today following his arrest. The commission has also previously recorded statements from the then-secretary of the ministry related to this incident.
