ටෙන්ඩර් පටිපාටියෙන් බැහැරව මගී ප්රවාහන අවසර පත්ර නිකුත් කරමින් රජයට රුපියල් ලක්ෂ 41කට අධික පාඩුවක් සිදුකිරීමේ දූෂණ චෝදනාව මත බස්නාහිර පළාත් මාර්ගස්ථ මගී ප්රවාහන අධිකාරියේ හිටපු සභාපතිවරයෙකු අල්ලස් හෝ දූෂණ චෝදනා විමර්ශන කොමිෂන් සභාව විසින් අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන තිබේ.
මෙසේ අත්අඩංගුවට පත්ව ඇත්තේ බස්නාහිර පළාත් මාර්ගස්ථ මගී ප්රවාහන අධිකාරියේ හිටපු සභාපතිවරයෙකු වන ඕපාත විතානගේ ප්රසන්න සංජීව නමැත්තාය. අල්ලස් කොමිසමේ විමර්ශන නිලධාරීන් කණ්ඩායමක් විසින් (15) සැකකරු අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන ඇත.
අල්ලස් හෝ දූෂණ චෝදනා විමර්ශන කොමිෂන් සභාව සඳහන් කරන්නේ, බස්නාහිර පළාත් මාර්ගස්ථ මගී ප්රවාහන අධිකාරි ප්රඥප්තිය උල්ලංඝනය කරමින්, නියමිත ටෙන්ඩර් ක්රමවේදයෙන් බැහැරව මගී ප්රවාහන අවසර පත්ර නිකුත් කර ඇති බවයි.
එමගින් බාහිර පාර්ශ්වයන්ට අයුතු සහගත ලෙස වාසි සලසා දී, රජයට රුපියල් 4,160,000/-ක මූල්යමය පාඩුවක් සිදුකිරීම තුළින් ඔහු ‘දූෂණය’ නමැති වරද සිදුකර ඇති බවට විමර්ශනවලදී අනාවරණය වී තිබේ.
අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් සැකකාර හිටපු සභාපතිවරයා කොළඹ ප්රධාන මහේස්ත්රාත් අධිකරණය වෙත ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමට නියමිත බව අල්ලස් කොමිසම වැඩිදුරටත් නිවේදනය කරයි.

Former Transport Authority Chairman Arrested Over Corruption Allegations
In a significant move against corruption, a former chairman of the Western Provincial Passenger Transport Authority has been arrested due to allegations of improperly issuing transport permits outside the tender process, resulting in a staggering loss of over 41 million Rupees to the government.
The arrested individual is identified as Prasanna Sanjeewa Opatha, ex-chairman of the authority. A specialized team from the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption took him into custody on the 15th.
The commission revealed that Opatha violated regulations by issuing passenger transport permits without adhering to the mandatory tender procedures. This act reportedly conferred undue benefits to external parties.
Investigations indicate that his actions led to a financial loss of 4,160,000 Rupees for the government, directly linking him to the act of corruption.
It has been announced that Opatha will be presented before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court shortly.
