කොළඹ වරායේ බහලුමක තිබූ රුපියල් බිලියනයක් පමණ වටිනා අයිස් මත්ද්‍රව්‍ය තොගය වැටලීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් අපරාධ දිසාව භාර ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ නියෝජ්‍ය පොලිස්පති රන්මල් කොඩිතුවක්කුගෙන් පොලිස් විශේෂ විමර්ශන ඒකකය (08) අයිස් පැයක කාලයක් ප්‍රකාශ සටහන් කරගෙන තිබේ.

ඒ අදාළ වැටලීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් විමර්ශනයක් සිදුකරන ලෙසට පොලිස්පති ප්‍රියන්ත වීරසුරිය විසින් කළ නියෝගයකට අනුව ආරම්භ කර ඇති විමර්ශනයට අනුවය.

කොළඹ වරායේ බහලුම් අංගණයක තිබූ කන්ටේනරයක් තුළ තුවා තුළ සඟවා තිබූ අයිස් මත්ද්‍රව්‍ය කිලෝග්‍රෑම් 472 ක් සොයාගෙන තිබුණේ පොලිස් මධ්‍යම අපරාධ විමර්ශන කාර්යාංශයේ උප පොලිස් පරීක්ෂකවරයකුට ලද තොරතුරකට අනුවය.

එම නිලධාරියාට අදාළ කන්ටේනරය ගෙන්වූ දේශීය නියෝජිතයා, කන්ටේනරයේ සීරියල් අංකය, කන්ටේනරයේ ඇති මත්ද්‍රව්‍ය ප්‍රමාණය සම්බන්ධයෙන් තොරතුරු ලැබී තිබෙන අතර ඒ සම්බන්ධයෙන් අධිකරණයට කරුණු වාර්තා කර අධිකරණ අවසරය මත කොළඹ වරායේ තිබූ එම කන්ටේනරයේ මුද්‍රා බිඳ පරීක්ෂා කිරීමේදි මත්ද්‍රව්‍ය තොගය සොයාගෙන තිබිණි.

ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ නියෝජ්‍ය පොලිස්පති රන්මල් කොඩිතුවක්කගේ ඍජු අධීක්ෂණය යටතේ මධ්‍යම අපරාධ විමර්ශන කාර්යාංශයේ අධ්‍යක්ෂ ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ පොලිස් අධීකාරී කමල් ආරියවංශගේ මෙහෙයවීමෙන් එම කාර්යාංශයේ නිලධාරිහු එම විමර්ශනය සිදුකළහ.

මෙම තොරතුරම අපරාධ දිසාව භාර ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ නියෝජ්‍ය පොලිස්පති රන්මල් කොඩිතුවක්කුටද ලැබී තිබුණු අතර ඒ සම්බන්ධයෙන් විමර්ශන පොලිස් මත්ද්‍රව්‍ය නාශක කාර්යාංශය වෙත යොමුකර තිබුණද ඔවුන්ට ඒ සම්බන්ධයෙන් විමර්ශන සාර්ථක කිරීමට නොහැකි වී තිබිණි.

කෙසේ වෙතත් වැටලීම සිදුවූ ආකාරය වැරැදි බව කියමින් පොලිස්පතිවරයා විසින් ගොඩබිමෙන් සොයාගත් විශාලතම මත්ද්‍රව්‍ය තොගය වන මෙම වැටලූ නිලධාරීන්ට එරෙහිව පරීක්ෂණ ආරම්භ කර තිබීම හේතුවෙන් පොලිස් දෙපාර්තුමේන්තුව තුළ දැඩි විරෝධයක්ද පළවී ඇති බව පොලිස් ආරංචි මාර්ග කියා සිටිියි.

Massive Drug Bust in Colombo: Police Uncover 472 Kilograms of Ice

In a significant drug bust at the Colombo Port, law enforcement officials have seized an estimated one billion rupees worth of ice narcotics concealed within a shipping container. This operation, overseen by Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police, Ranmal Kodithuwakku, was initiated following a directive from Inspector General of Police, Priyanta Weerasuriya to conduct an investigation.

The revelation came after information was provided to a deputy police investigator from the Central Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Acting on this intelligence, police uncovered 472 kilograms of ice hidden in a shipping container located within the port's storage facilities.

Details regarding the container, including its serial number and the specified quantity of narcotics, had been communicated by a local representative. Subsequent to receiving judicial approval, officers were able to break the seal of the container and discover the hidden drugs.

This operation was conducted under the direct supervision of Senior Deputy Inspector General Ranmal Kodithuwakku, with coordination from Senior Superintendent of Police Kamal Ariyawansha, director of the CID.

Although the information regarding this case was also communicated to Senior Deputy Inspector General Kodithuwakku, attempts by the narcotics eradication unit to delve deeper into the investigation encountered challenges.

The manner in which the bust unfolded has raised eyebrows, leading to internal dissent within the police department. Reports indicate that investigations against the officials involved in what is now regarded as the largest drug seizure from a building are underway, prompting concerns about procedural lapses.
