 පල්ලෙකැලේ, දුම්බර බන්ධනාගාරයෙන් පලායාමට උත්සාහ කළ බව කියන 27 හැවිරිදි රැඳවියෙකු බන්ධනාගාර ආරක්ෂක නිලධාරීන් විසින් එල්ල කරන ලද වෙඩි ප්‍රහාරයකින් ජීවිතක්ෂයට පත්ව ඇති බව බන්ධනාගාර මාධ්‍ය ප්‍රකාශක කාර්යාලය තහවුරු කරයි.

මෙලෙස මියගොස් ඇත්තේ මහනුවර, ගලගෙදර ප්‍රදේශයේ පදිංචිකරුවෙකු වන තරුණයෙකි.

බන්ධනාගාර ආරංචි මාර්ග සඳහන් කරන පරිදි, මෙම රැඳවියා බන්ධනාගාර පරිශ්‍රයේ පැන පලායාමට උත්සාහ දැරූ අවස්ථාවේදී රාජකාරියේ නිරතව සිටි ආරක්ෂක නිලධාරීන් ඔහුට නතර වන ලෙස අවවාදාත්මක සංඥා නිකුත් කර තිබේ. 

එහෙත් එම නියෝග නොතකා ඔහු දිගින් දිගටම පලායාමට උත්සාහ කිරීමත් සමඟ ආරක්ෂක නිලධාරීන් වෙඩි ප්‍රහාර එල්ල කර ඇත.

සිද්ධිය සම්බන්ධයෙන් අදාළ මහේස්ත්‍රාත්වරයා මඟින් ස්ථානීය පරීක්ෂණයක් සහ මරණ පරීක්ෂණයක් පැවැත්වීමට නියමිත අතර, බන්ධනාගාර දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව සහ පොලිසිය එක්ව සිද්ධිය සම්බන්ධයෙන් වැඩිදුර පරීක්ෂණ ආරම්භ කර තිබේ.

මීට පෙරද අවස්ථා කිහිපයකදී විවිධ චෝදනා යටතේ රිමාන්ඩ් භාරයේ හෝ සිර දඬුවම් විඳිමින් සිටි රැඳවියන් දුම්බර සහ ඒ ආශ්‍රිත එළිමහන් සිරකඳවුරෙන් පලායාමේ සිදුවීම් වාර්තා වී තිබිණි.

Inmate Fatally Shot While Attempting Escape from Dumbar Prison

A 27-year-old inmate, who reportedly attempted to escape from Dumbar Prison, lost his life in a shooting incident involving prison security personnel. This tragic event has been confirmed by the prison media office.

The deceased, a resident of the Galagedara area in Kandy, was trying to flee the prison premises when security officers engaged in routine duties issued warnings for him to stop.

Despite the warnings, the inmate continued his escape attempt, prompting the guards to open fire. Details surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

A local magistrate is set to conduct an inquiry into the circumstances of the incident, while the Department of Prisons and police have initiated further investigations.

The Dumbar Prison, located in the Kandy District, is known to hold a significant number of high-profile inmates, making it one of the country's major correctional facilities.

This is not the first time that escape attempts have been documented at Dumbar, with several previous incidents involving inmates who were either on remand or serving sentences under various charges.
