Government Issues Directive to Reclaim Idle Agricultural Lands
The government is taking decisive action to reclaim idle agricultural lands that have been allocated tax-free but are not being utilized for intended purposes. K.D. Lal Kantha, the Minister of Agriculture, Animal Resources, Land, and Irrigation, has instructed officials to expedite the process of reassigning these lands back to state control.
In a statement shared on his official social media account, the minister noted that reclaimed lands would be systematically returned to parties with genuine interest and capability for effective agricultural projects, ensuring their productive use.
Currently, authorities have officially identified 135 individuals who have abandoned state agricultural lands, failing to cultivate them as per the tax agreements. The minister assured that all necessary measures to reclaim these lands and redirect them towards productive agricultural activities are well underway, adhering to the relevant legal procedures and agreement terms.
Minister Lal Kantha highlighted the detrimental impact of leaving valuable agricultural lands fallow for extended periods, expressing concern that it deprives the country of opportunities to enhance overall production capacity. He emphasized that the reactivation of such lands could boost national agricultural output, create new investment opportunities, and generate additional income avenues for rural populations, aligning with the government's primary objectives.
