සේවක අර්ථසාධක අරමුදල (EPF) ආරක්ෂා කරමින්, එහි සැබෑ ප්‍රතිලාභ වැඩකරන ජනතාව වෙත උපරිමයෙන් ලබාදීම සඳහා රජය විධිමත් වැඩපිළිවෙළක් ක්‍රියාත්මක කරන බවත්, ඒ පිළිබඳව කිසිවකුත් අනියත බියක් හෝ කලබලයක් ඇති කරගත යුතු නැති බවත් වෙළෙඳ, වාණිජ, ආහාර සුරක්ෂිතතා සහ සමුපකාර සංවර්ධන අමාත්‍ය වසන්ත සමරසිංහ මහතා අවධාරණය කළේය.
ජාතික ජන බලවේගය විසින් සංවිධානය කරන ලද ‘වසර දෙකයි - රටට සුබයි’ වෘත්තීය සමිති ජාතික සමුළුව අමතමින් අමාත්‍යවරයා මේ බව සඳහන් කළේය.
එහිදී වැඩිදුරටත් අදහස් දැක්වූ අමාත්‍ය වසන්ත සමරසිංහ මහතා මෙසේ පැවසීය:
"කලබල වෙන්න එපා! මේක අපි හොඳට දැනගෙන අවබෝධයෙන් කරන වැඩක්. අපි කරුවලේ අතපත ගාන්නේ නෑ. මේ රටේ වැඩකරන පන්තියේ උවමනාව මත, වැඩකරන ජනතාව සටන් කරලා ගොඩනගපු ආණ්ඩුවක් තමයි මේ තියෙන්නේ. ඒ නිසා වැඩකරන ජනතාව ආරක්ෂා කරන්නේ අපේ ආණ්ඩුවයි.
අද විපක්ෂයේ සුන්බුන් වෙච්ච කල්ලි උත්සාහ කරනවා සේවක අර්ථසාධක අරමුදල අපේ, ඒකට අත තියන්න එපා කියලා කෑගහන්න. මම අහන්නේ සේවක අර්ථසාධක අරමුදලේ නියම අයිතිකාරයෝ කවුද? අන්න ඒ සැබෑ අයිතිකාරයෝ තමයි මේ ශාලාවේ පිරිලා ඉන්නේ. ඒ නිසා අපි මේ අරමුදල පාවිච්චි කරන්නේ වැඩකරන ජනතාවගේ අයිතිවාසිකම් තවදුරටත් සහතික කරන්න සහ තහවුරු කරන්නයි."
සේවක අර්ථසාධක අරමුදලේ වත්මන් වත්කම් පිළිබඳ කරුණු පැහැදිලි කළ අමාත්‍යවරයා, එහි සමස්ත වටිනාකම රුපියල් ට්‍රිලියන 6ක් හෙවත් බිලියන 6,000ක් වන බවත්, එයින් සියයට 95ක්ම දැනටමත් ආණ්ඩුව භාණ්ඩාගාර බැඳුම්කර හරහා ණයට ගෙන ඇති බවත් පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.
"අපි ආණ්ඩුවට ණය ගන්න එක විතරක් නෙමෙයි කල්පනා කරන්නේ. මේ අරමුදලෙන් සේවකයන්ගේ විශ්‍රාමයේදී මීට වඩා මොනවද දෙන්න පුළුවන්? පෞද්ගලික අංශයේ සේවකයන්ගේ විශ්‍රාම ජීවිතය සුරක්ෂිත කරන්න මේ අරමුදල යොදාගෙන ලබාදිය හැකි ප්‍රතිලාභ මොනවාද කියලා අපි හොයලා බලනවා. කම්කරු අමාත්‍ය ආචාර්ය අනිල් ජයන්ත සහෝදරයා කැබිනට් මණ්ඩලයට අදාළ යෝජනාව ඉදිරිපත් කළේ ඒ පදනමින්," යැයි හෙතෙම සඳහන් කළේය.
එමෙන්ම මෙම තීන්දු හුදකලාව නොගන්නා බවත්, ජාතික කම්කරු උපදේශක සභාව තුළ මේ පිළිබඳ සාකච්ඡා පවත්වන අතරතුර, කම්කරු නීති සංශෝධනය කිරීම සඳහා විශේෂ කමිටුවක්ද පත් කර ඇති බව අමාත්‍යවරයා වැඩිදුරටත් අනාවරණය කළේය.
Government Assures EPF's Safety and Maximum Benefits for Workers
The government has implemented a systematic approach to safeguarding the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF), emphasizing that there should be no undue anxiety among the public regarding its management. Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security, and Cooperative Development, Vasanta Samarasinghe, made this assertion during the “Two Years of Good Fortune for the Nation” national summit organized by the National People’s Power.
Minister Samarasinghe stressed the importance of public understanding of the government’s actions, declaring, "Do not panic! This is a well-informed and deliberate effort on our part. We are not merely throwing caution to the wind. This government has risen from the struggles of the working class, therefore, it is our duty to safeguard the interests of workers."
He further addressed concerns about opposition parties attempting to disrupt the EPF, stating, “They are rallying against the EPF, claiming it does not belong to us. I ask, who are the true owners of the EPF? They are the workers gathered here in this hall. Hence, we are committed to utilizing this fund to further secure the rights of working people.”
The Minister also provided clarification on the current status of the EPF, revealing that its total value stands at a staggering Rs. 6 trillion (or Rs. 6,000 billion), with 95% of it currently allocated by the government through treasury bonds.
“Our considerations go beyond just borrowing from the government. We are exploring what additional benefits can be provided to workers during retirement from this fund. We aim to ensure the retirement security of employees in the private sector through the available advantages of the EPF,” he explained, referring to proposals put forth by Minister of Labour Dr. Anil Jayathissa to the Cabinet.
Furthermore, the Minister confirmed that these decisions are not isolated, as discussions are ongoing within the National Labour Advisory Council, and a special committee has been established to amend labour laws accordingly.
