ශ්රී ලංකා පොදු ජන පෙරමුණේ සභාපති, ලේකම්, භාණ්ඩාගාරික ඇතුලු එම පක්ෂයෙ 8 දෙනෙකුට (31) දින නුවරඑලිය දිසා අධිකරණය හමුවේ පෙනි සිටින ලෙස නුවරඑලිය දිසා අධිකරණයේ දිසා විනිසුරු ලංකාගනී ප්රබුද්ධිකා මෙනවිය විසින් (25) දින නොතිසි නිකුත් කර තිබුණද එම පිරිස දිසා අධිකරණය හමුවේ (31) දින පෙනී නොසිටි නිසා යලිත් එම නඩුව අගෝස්තු මස (17) දින කැදවීමට දිසා විනිසුරුතුමිය නියෝග කලහ.
තලවකැලේ ලිදුල නගර සභවේ ශ්රී ලංකා පොදු ජන පෙරමුණේ නාගරික මන්ත්රීවරයෙකු වශයෙන් කටයුතු කල ඔරුකද ලියනගේ අසංක සම්පත් පීරිස් (17) දින සිට ධූරයෙන් ඉවත් කල බව ජූනි 17 දින නිකුත් කල අති විශේෂ ගැසට් පත්රය මගින් ප්රකාශ කිරිම සම්බන්ධයෙන් තමාට අසාධාරයක් සිදු වී ඇති බව අසංක සම්පත් පීරිස් විසින් නුවරඑලිය දිසා අධිකරණයේ ගොනුකර තිබු පෙත්සමක් සලකා බැලීමෙන් අනතුරුවයි මහේස්ත්රාත්වරිය එම නියෝගය කර ඇත්තේ.
අධිකරණය වෙත පෙත්සම ඉදිරිපත් කරමින් ඔරුකද ලියනගේ අසංක සම්පත් පීරිස් මහතා කියා සිටියේ 2025.06.18 දින එම නගර සභාවට සභාපතිවරයෙකු සහ උප සභාපතිවරයෙතු තොරා පත් කර ගැනීමේදි ශ්රී ලංකා පොදු ජන පෙරමුණ නියෝජනය කල තමන්ට සභාව තුල කටයුතු කල යුතු ආකාරය සම්බන්ධයෙන් තමන්ට ලිඛිතව හෝ වාවිකව කිසිදු උපදෙසක් ලබා නොදීම හමුවේ තමන් ස්වාධීනව කටයුතු කිරිම හමුවේ මෙවැනි විනය පරික්ෂනයක් පවත්වා තමන්ව මෙසේ පක්ෂයෙන් නෙරපා හැරීම අසාධාරණ බවයි.
එම නගර සභාවට ප්රසාද ආසන මන්ත්රීවරයෙකු වශයෙන් තේරි පත් විමෙන් අනතුරුව එම නගර සභාවේ සභාපතිවරයා සහ උප සභාපතිවරයා තේරිමේදි පක්ෂයේ උපදෙස්වලට පටහැනිව කටයුතු කිරිම සම්බන්ධයෙන් පැවති විනය පරික්ෂණයකදී අසංක සම්පත් පීරිස් නාගරික මන්ත්රිවරයා වැරදිකරු වූ නිසා ශ්රී ලංකා පොදු ජන පෙරමුණේ සාමාජිකත්වයෙන් ඉවත් කල බව මැතිවරණ කොමසාරිස්වරයාට දැනුම් දීමේන් පසු එම ඉවත් කිරිම නීත්යානුකූලව සිදු කර ඇත.
අසංක සම්පත් පීරිස් නාගරික මන්ත්රිවරයා පෙත්සම මගින් ඉල්ලා ඇත්තේ නඩුව විභාග කර අවසන් වන තෙක් තමා ඉවත් කිරිමට නිකුත් කර ඇති විශේෂ ගැසට් පත්රය බල රහිත කර තමන්ව යලිත් එම ධූරයේ කටයුතු කරගෙන යෑමට ඉඩ සලසා දෙන ලෙසත්, තමන්ට පක්ෂයෙන් සිදු වූ අගතිය වෙනුවෙන් රු.කෝටි 5ක වන්දි මුලදක් ඉල්ලා පෙත්සම මගින් ඉල්ලා ඇත.

Controversy Surrounds Disciplinary Action Against Municipal Council Member
The chairman, secretary, and treasurer of the Sri Lanka People's Front (SLPP) have been summoned to appear in the Nuwara Eliya District Court, as a plea was filed regarding the suspension of eight members, including a municipal council member. The case was announced by District Judge Lanka Ganee Prabuddhika, who has set the date for further proceedings on August 17 due to the absence of the defendants on the last scheduled date.
Asanka Sam path Peiris, formerly a municipal council member for the SLPP representing the Talawakelle Liddul Town Council, was removed from his position on June 17. This decision was communicated via an extraordinary gazette, which led Peiris to file a petition asserting that he has been subjected to an injustice. He claims he was not provided with written or verbal instructions on how to act within the council.
In his petition to the court, Peiris articulated that during the selection of a chairman and deputy chairman for the council on June 18, there was no direction given to him about his role within the council, compelling him to act independently. He described the disciplinary actions taken against him as unjust given his lack of guidance.
The selection of the chairman and deputy chairman came under scrutiny during a disciplinary inquiry regarding the SLPP's directives. Following a determination that Peiris had acted in violation of party protocols, the election commissioner was informed of his removal from the SLPP, which was subsequently deemed legitimate.
Peiris's legal motion seeks to suspend the gazette order until the case is resolved, expressing as well a demand for a compensation of 5 million rupees for the grievances suffered from the party’s actions.
