 ලෝක වෙළඳපොළේ ඉන්ධන මිල ඉහළ යාම හමුවේ ඉන්ධන ආනයනය සඳහා වැයවන පිරිවැය ඉහළ යාම හේතුවෙන්, නව සහනාධාරයක් ලබාදෙන ලෙස රජයෙන් ඉල්ලීමට හෝ මිල සංශෝධනයක් වැනි විකල්ප ක්‍රියාමාර්ග වෙත යොමු වීමට බලශක්ති අමාත්‍යාංශය සූදානම් වෙයි.

'සන්ඩේ ටයිම්ස්' පුවත්පත වෙත අදහස් දක්වමින් බලශක්ති අමාත්‍ය අනුර කරුණාතිලක මහතා ප්‍රකාශ කර ඇත්තේ, ලෝක වෙළඳපොළේ පෙට්‍රල්, ඩීසල් සහ බොරතෙල් මිල ඉහළ යාම ආනයන පිරිවැයට දැඩි ලෙස බලපා ඇති බවයි.

මේ හේතුවෙන් ඉදිරි සති දෙක ඇතුළත පවතින තත්ත්වය පිළිබඳව විශේෂ සමාලෝචනයක් සිදු කිරීම අත්‍යවශ්‍ය වී තිබේ.

මෙම සමාලෝචනයෙන් අනතුරුව, රජය විසින් මීට පෙර ලබා දී පසුව අත්හිටුවන ලද රුපියල් බිලියන 15ක සහනාධාරය නැවත ලබා ගැනීමට හෝ සිදුවන පාඩුව පියවා ගැනීම සඳහා මිල සංශෝධනයක් සිදු කිරීමට අමාත්‍යාංශය තීරණය කරනු ඇතැයි අමාත්‍යවරයා වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කළේය.

අවසන් වරට ඉන්ධන මිල සංශෝධනයක් සිදු වූයේ ජූනි මාසයේදී වන අතර එය ජූලි මාසයේ සිට ක්‍රියාත්මක විය. මෙම අගෝස්තු මාසය සඳහා මිල සංශෝධනයක් සිදු නොවීය.

මේ අතර, ලංකා ඛනිජ තෙල් නීතිගත සංස්ථාවේ සභාපති ජනක රාජකරුණා මහතා පවසා ඇත්තේ, බටහිර ආසියානු යුදමය වාතාවරණය ආරම්භ වූ පෙබරවාරි මාසයට සාපේක්ෂව මේ වන විට ඉන්ධන මිල සියයට 48කින් පමණ ඉහළ ගොස් ඇති බවයි.

ඉන්ධන මිලට අමතරව රක්ෂණ වාරික සහ ප්‍රවාහන ගාස්තු ද ඉහළ යාම පිරිවැය වැඩි වීමට ප්‍රධාන හේතුවක් වී තිබේ.

ඉන්දියාව, සිංගප්පූරුව සහ දකුණු කොරියාව වැනි රටවලින් ඉන්ධන ආනයනය කළ ද, පවතින මිල ඉහළ යාම දැඩි අවධානයට ලක්විය යුතු කරුණක් බව සභාපතිවරයා වැඩිදුරටත් අවධාරණය කර ඇත.

Energy Ministry Considers Action Amid Rising Fuel Costs

As fuel prices soar in the global market, the Sri Lankan Energy Ministry is contemplating seeking new subsidies or adjusting pricing strategies to address the increased costs of fuel imports. This comes as the prices of petrol, diesel, and kerosene have significantly impacted the country’s import expenses.

Energy Minister Anura Yapa Karunathilaka emphasized in remarks to the Sunday Times that the surging prices on the international stage necessitate a critical review of the current situation within the next two weeks.

This review will guide the government's decision, potentially leading to a reinstatement of the previously suspended 15 billion rupee subsidy, or an adjustment in prices to cover any losses incurred, the minister noted.

The last adjustment in fuel prices occurred in June, which took effect in July, and there has been no change implemented for August.

Meanwhile, Janaka Rajakaruna, Chairman of the Lanka Mineral Oil Corporation, highlighted that fuel prices have surged by approximately 48% compared to February, just before the onset of the Western Asian geopolitical tensions.

In addition to rising fuel prices, increasing insurance premiums and transportation costs have also contributed significantly to the overall expenses, Rajakaruna pointed out.

While fuel is imported from countries such as India, Singapore, and South Korea, the ongoing rises in prices require urgent attention, he further stressed.
