 පසුගිය දිනවල ඇදහැලුණු අධික වර්ෂාවත් සමග නායයෑමට ලක් වූ කොත්මලේ ගම්පොළ ප්‍රධාන මාර්ගයේ පනන්ගම්මන ප්‍රදේශයේ තාවකාලිකව ඉදි කල ලෑලි පාලම මතින් ත්‍රීරෝද රථ ධාවනය (19) දින සිට තහනම් කල බව කොත්මලේ පොලිසියේ ස්ථානාධිපති පොලිස් පරික්ෂක ඉන්දික ලලිත් මහතා පැවසිය.

එම මාර්ගය නායයෑම නිසා පනන්ගම්මන ප්‍රදේශයේ ජනතාව දැඩි ලෙස පීඩාවට පත් වීම නිසා නාය ගිය ස්ථානයෙන් ස්ථිර පාලමක් ඉදි කරන තෙක් තාවකාලිකව යකඩ පාලමක් ඉදි කරන ලෙසට කටයුතු කරන ලෙසට නුවරඑළිය දිස්ත්‍රික් සම්බන්ධිකරණ කමිටුවේ සභාපති සහ නුවරඑළිය දිස්ත්‍රික් පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී මංජුල සුරවීරආරච්චි මහතා එම නාය ගිය ස්ථානය නිරික්ෂණය කිරිමෙන් පසු නුවරඑලිය මාර්ග සංවර්ධන අධිකාරියේ ප්‍රධාන ඉංජිනේරුවරයාට උපදෙස් ලබා දී ඇත.

එම යකඩ පාලම ඉදි කරන තෙක් පනන්ගම්මන ප්‍රදේශවාසීන් එක්ව තාවකාලිකව නාය ගිය ස්ථානයෙන් ගමන් කිරිමට යොදා තිබූ දැව කදන් වලින් සකස් කරන ලද පාලම අනාරක්ෂිත නිසා එම දැව කදන් මත යකඩ කේබල් යොදා ගනිමින් ලෑලි පාලමක් තාවකාලිකව ඉදි කර ඇත.

එම පාලම (19) දින නිරික්ෂණය කල කොත්මලේ පොලිසියේ ස්ථානාධිපති පොලිස් පරික්ෂක ඉන්දික ලලිත් මහතා ප්‍රදේශවාසීන් හමුවේ කියා සිටියේ, ඉදි කරන ලද ලැලි පාලම මතින් යතුරුපැදියක් ධාවනය කල හැකි බවත්, ඊට අමතරව ත්‍රීරෝද රථ ධාවනය කිරිම සදහා අදාළ වග කියයුතු ආයතන වලින් නිර්දේශ ලැබී නොමැති නිසා එම පාලම මතින් ත්‍රීරෝද රථ ධාවනය (19) දින සිට තහනම් කරන බවයි.

Temporary Steel Bridge Established in Kotmale Following Landslide Disruption

Heavy rainfall in recent days has led to significant landslides in the Kotmale area, prompting the authorities to take immediate action. A temporary steel bridge has been erected in the Panangammana area along the main road to facilitate three-wheeler traffic, which has been prohibited since the 19th due to the hazardous conditions, according to Inspector Indika Lalith, Officer in Charge of Kotmale Police.

The landslide has caused considerable distress among residents of the Panangammana area, necessitating the installation of a reliable structure. Manjula Surawiraarachchi, Chairman of the Nuwara Eliya District Coordinating Committee and Member of Parliament for the district, assessed the situation at the landslide site. He has issued directives to the chief engineer of the Nuwara Eliya Road Development Authority to initiate the construction of a permanent bridge.

In the interim, the community has been using a makeshift wooden bridge, which has been found to be unsafe. Authorities are now replacing this with a temporary steel structure designed to restore connectivity until a permanent solution is implemented. The newly constructed bridge is expected to support the passage of motorcycles, while the transport of three-wheelers remains suspended until proper approvals are obtained from relevant agencies, as highlighted by Inspector Lalith during a recent inspection.

Traffic restrictions will remain in effect starting from the 19th concerning the passage of three-wheelers over the temporary bridge, ensuring the safety of all road users.
