පැරණි ව්‍යාපෘතිය දුෂිතයි.. අලුත් ව්‍යාපෘතියක් අරඹනවා..

 කෘෂිකර්ම, පශු සම්පත්, ඉඩම් හා වාරිමාර්ග අමාත්‍යාංශය යටතේ වාරිමාර්ග දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව මගින්, සමස්ත පිරිවැය රුපියල් මිලියන 254ක් වැය කරමින් ක්‍රියාත්මක කරනු ලබන මහගල්ගමුව පෝෂිත ඇළ ව්‍යාපෘතියේ දෙවන අදියර (25) දින මහගල්ගමුව වැව් තාවුල්ලේදී ආරම්භ කරන ලදී.

ගල්ගමුව ගොවීන්ට ජලය නොමැතිකම හේතුවෙන් එක් කන්නයක් පමණක් වගා කල යුගය අවසන් කරමින් ජල ගැටලුවට ස්ථිර විසඳුමක් ලබා දීම සඳහා මහගල්ගමුව පෝෂිත ඇළ ව්‍යාපෘතිය ආරම්භ කර ඇත.

මහගල්ගමුව ජලාශයේ මුළු ධාරිතාව අක්කර අඩි 6,500ක් වන නමුත්, ජලපෝෂක ප්‍රදේශයෙන් ලැබෙන් ජල ප්‍රමාණය ප්‍රමාණවත් නොවීම නිසා පූර්ණ ජල මට්ටමට ළඟාවීට නොහැකිව පවතී. මෙම වැව පෝෂණය කිරීම මඟින්, ආරම්භයේ සිටම ජල හිඟයකින් පෙළෙන පාලුකඩවල යෝජනා ක්‍රමයේ II අදියර යටතේ ඇති කුඹුරු අක්කර 800කට වාරි ජලය සැපයීමට හැකියාව ලැබේ. ව්‍යාපෘතියන් පසු වගාබිම් අක්කර 1,400 කට ආසන්න ප්‍රමාණයක් යල මහ කන්න දෙක සදහාම වාරි ජලය සැපයීමට හැකියාව ලැබේ.

මෙම අවස්ථාවට එක්වෙමින් කෘෂිකර්ම හා පශු සම්පත් නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය නාමල් කරුණාරත්න මහතා මෙසේ සදහන් කළේය. 

“මහගල්ගමුව පෝෂිත ඇළ වාරි ව්‍යාපෘතිය මඟින් ප්‍රදේශයේ ගොවි ජනතාව මුහුණ දෙන දැවෙන ජල ප්‍රශ්නයට ස්ථිර විසඳුමක් . මෙම වාරි ව්‍යාපෘතියට අදාළ පැරණි වැඩකටයුතුවලදී විශාල මුදලක් අපතේ ගොස් ඇති බව විගණන වාර්තාවලින් හෙළි වී තිබෙනවා. එම පැරණි ව්‍යාපෘතියේ පැවති දූෂිත තත්ත්වය හේතුවෙන් එය එලෙසම ඉදිරියට කරගෙන යා නොහැකි නිසා, කැබිනට් අනුමැතිය හරහා නව ව්‍යාපෘතියක් ලෙස මෙය ක්‍රියාත්මක කරනවා. 2027 එළඹෙන මහ කන්නය වන විට ගොවීන්ගේ කුඹුරුවලට වතුර ලබා දීමට හැකි වනු ඇතැයි අපි විශ්වාස කරනවා.”

මෙම අවස්ථාව සඳහා මහජන ආරක්ෂක හා පාර්ලිමේන්තු කටයුතු අමාත්‍ය ආනන්ද විජේපාල මහතා, කෘෂිකර්ම හා පශු සම්පත් නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය නාමල් කරුණාරත්න මහතා, කුරුණෑගල දිස්ත්‍රික් පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී චන්දන තෙන්නකෝන් මහතා, ගල්ගමුව ප්‍රාදේශීය සභා සභාපති විජේරත්න බංඩාර මහතා ඇතුලු ප්‍රාදේශීය සභා මන්ත්‍රීවරුන්,කුරුණෑගල වාරිමාර්ග අධ්‍යක්‍ෂකතුමා හා නිළදාරීන් , ගල්ගමුව ප්‍රාදේශීය ලේකම්තුමා ඇතුලු රාජ්‍ය නිලධාරීන්, ගොවි සංවිධාන නියෝජිතයින් හා ප්‍රදේශවාසීන් විශාල පිරිසක් එක්ව සිටියහ.

Mahagalgamuwa Irrigation Project's Second Phase Launched with Substantial Investment

The second phase of the Mahagalgamuwa Irrigation Project was inaugurated on the 25th at the Mahagalgamuwa reservoir, backed by a significant investment of Rs. 254 million from the Department of Irrigation within the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land, and Irrigation.

This initiative aims to provide a permanent solution to the water scarcity faced by farmers in the region, who have previously been limited to cultivating only one crop cycle due to the lack of adequate irrigation. The project was established to address these pressing water concerns effectively.

Although the Mahagalgamuwa reservoir has a total capacity of 6,500 acres, the amount of water sourced from the catchment area has been insufficient, preventing it from reaching full capacity. This irrigation enhancement will enable the project to supply water to approximately 800 acres under the Phase II proposal, which have been severely affected by water shortages. The initiative also has the potential to provide irrigation to about 1,400 acres of farmland, benefiting two major crop cycles.

At the event, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Namal Karunaratne, highlighted the significance of the project, stating, “The Mahagalgamuwa Irrigation Project represents a stable solution to the ongoing water crisis faced by farmers in the area. Analysis reports reveal that substantial funds have previously been mismanaged in old projects related to irrigation. Due to the deteriorated condition of these projects, we are moving forward with this new initiative under Cabinet approval. We believe that by 2027, we will be able to provide sufficient water to the farmers’ fields.”

The inauguration was attended by a notable gathering, including Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, Anandamithra Wijepala, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Namal Karunaratne, District Parliament Member Chandra Thennekone from Kurunegala, and local government members including Wijerathna Bandara, Chairman of the Galgamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha. State officials, agricultural organization representatives, and residents from the area participated in large numbers, underscoring the community’s investment in this vital project.
