විශේෂයෙන්ම නේපාලය, ඉන්දුනීසියාව, පකිස්ථානය සහ ඉන්දියාව වැනි රටවල රැඳී සිටිමින් මෙරට මත්ද්‍රව්‍ය ජාලය මෙහෙයවූ ප්‍රධාන පෙළේ ජාවාරම්කරුවන් අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීම සඳහා අපරාධ පරීක්ෂණ දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව මගින් රතු වරෙන්තු විශාල ප්‍රමාණයක් නිකුත් කර ඇති බවද ඔහු පැවසීය.

එම රතු වරෙන්තු නිකුත් කරන ලද පුද්ගලයන්ගෙන් අඩකට වඩා වැඩි ප්‍රමාණයක් මේ වන විටත් මෙරටට ගෙන්වා ගැනීමට කටයුතු කර ඇති බවත්, ඉදිරියේදී සෙසු ජාවාරම්කරුවන්ද නීතිය හමුවට පමුණුවන බවත් වටගල මහතා සඳහන් කළේය.

අතීතයේදී මත්ද්‍රව්‍ය මර්දනය කරන බව පැවසුවද, එහි සැපයුම් ජාලය පිටුපස සිටි දේශපාලනඥයන් නිසා එම මෙහෙයුම් සාර්ථක නොවූ බවත්, වර්තමානයේ කිසිදු දේශපාලන භේදයකින් තොරව නීතිය ක්‍රියාත්මක වන බවත් ඔහු වැඩිදුරටත් පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

Government Cracks Down on Drug Networks with New Initiatives

In a significant announcement, Deputy Minister of Public Security Sunil Watagala revealed that past political interventions in Sri Lanka's drug supply networks have been completely halted under the current government. Speaking at a press conference in Colombo, he emphasized the urgent measures undertaken to dismantle international drug trafficking operations that have long plagued the nation.

Watagala pointed out that a national operation, initiated under the leadership of the President, is making rigorous strides in curbing drug trafficking. He specifically mentioned that the authorities are focusing on major drug traffickers residing in countries such as Nepal, Indonesia, Pakistan, and India.

The Deputy Minister disclosed that the Criminal Investigation Department has issued a large number of red notices aimed at apprehending these key players in the drug networks. He noted that over a dozen individuals linked to these operations have already begun the process of being brought back to Sri Lanka.

Looking ahead, Watagala assured that other traffickers will also face justice in the near future. He remarked that despite previous claims of combating drug trafficking, operations were often undermined by politicians behind the scenes. However, he reiterated that the enforcement of the law is now proceeding without any political bias.
