හිටපු ජනාධිපති මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතාගේ පුත් යෝෂිත රාජපක්ෂ සහ හිටපු නාවික හමුදාපති වසන්ත කරන්නාගොඩ යන මහත්වරුන්ට එරෙහිව අල්ලස් හෝ දූෂණ චෝදනා විමර්ශන කොමිෂන් සභාව විසින් ගොනු කරන ලද අධිචෝදනා පත්‍ර අද (20) කොළඹ මහාධිකරණයේදී භාර දුන්නේය.

මෙම නඩුව කොළඹ මහාධිකරණ විනිසුරු රවීන්ද්‍ර ප්‍රේමරත්න මහතා ඉදිරියේ කැඳවූ අවස්ථාවේදී විත්තිකරුවන් දෙදෙනා අධිකරණය හමුවේ පෙනී සිටි අතර, එහිදී ඔවුන්ට අදාළ අධිචෝදනා පත්‍ර විවෘත අධිකරණයේදී භාර දීමට පියවර ගැනිණි.

අධිචෝදනා පත්‍ර භාර දීමෙන් අනතුරුව, විත්තිකරුවන් දෙදෙනා රුපියල් මිලියන 10 බැගින් වූ ශරීර ඇප මත මුදා හැරීමට විනිසුරුවරයා නියෝග කළේය. එසේම ඔවුන්ගේ විදේශ ගමන් තහනම් කිරීමට ද අධිකරණය මෙහිදී පියවර ගෙන තිබේ.

මෙම නඩුවට පාදක වී ඇත්තේ 2006 වසරේදී අවශ්‍ය සුදුසුකම් සපුරා නොතිබියදී යෝෂිත රාජපක්ෂ මහතා විධායක ශිෂ්‍ය භටයෙකු ලෙස නාවික හමුදාවට බඳවා ගැනීම සහ පවතින පටිපාටියට පටහැනිව රජයේ මුදල් වැය කරමින් ඔහුව බ්‍රිතාන්‍යයේ රාජකීය නාවික හමුදා පුහුණු විද්‍යාලයේ පාඨමාලාවක් සඳහා සහභාගී කරවීමයි.

මෙම ක්‍රියාවලිය හරහා දූෂණය නමැති වරද සිදු කර ඇති බවට අල්ලස් කොමිසම විත්තිකරුවන්ට එරෙහිව චෝදනා නගා ඇත.

ඉදිරිපත් වූ කරුණු සලකා බැලූ විනිසුරුවරයා, පූර්ව නඩු විභාග සම්මන්ත්‍රණය සඳහා මෙම නඩුව සැප්තැම්බර් මස 17 වන දින යළි කැඳවීමට නියම කළේය.

Corruption Charges Filed Against Yoshitha Rajapaksa and Former Navy Chief

In a significant development, the Colombo High Court today received the timely submission of serious corruption and bribery charges against Yoshitha Rajapaksa, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, and former Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda. The charges stem from an inquiry conducted by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

During the court proceedings presided over by Judge Ravindran Premaratne, both accused appeared before the court, marking the occasion with the formal submission of the indictment in an open court setting.

Following the filing of the indictment, the judge ordered both defendants to be released on bail set at 10 million rupees each. Additionally, the court has placed a travel ban on the pair, restricting their movement outside the country.

The case revolves around allegations from 2006, when Yoshitha Rajapaksa reportedly secured enrollment in the Navy as an executive trainee despite not meeting the required qualifications. It is alleged that he used government funds to participate in a course at the prestigious Royal Naval Academy in the UK, circumventing existing protocols.

The Bribery Commission has charged the defendants with committing acts of corruption during this process.

Taking into account the details presented, the judge scheduled a preliminary hearing for this case on September 17.
