කැබිනට් තීරණ දැනුම් දීම සඳහා පැවැති මාධ්‍ය හමුවේදී අදහස් දක්වමින් අමාත්‍යවරයා මේ බව සඳහන් කළේය.

පසුගියදා පෙට්‍රල් මිල අඩු කළ ද ඩීසල් සහ භූමිතෙල් මිලෙහි වෙනසක් සිදු නොවීම පිළිබඳව මෙහිදී මාධ්‍යවේදීන් ප්‍රශ්න කළහ.

ඩීසල් සහ භූමිතෙල් මිල අඩු කිරීම සාමාන්‍ය ජනතාවට සහ ධීවර ප්‍රජාවට සෘජුවම බලපාන බවත්, පෙට්‍රල් මිල අඩු වුවද ත්‍රිරෝද රථ ගාස්තු හෝ භාණ්ඩ මිලෙහි සාපේක්ෂ අඩුවීමක් දක්නට නොලැබෙන බවත් ඔවුහු පෙන්වා දුන්හ.

ඊට ප්‍රතිචාර දක්වමින් අමාත්‍යවරයා කියා සිටියේ රජයේ අරමුණ සියලුම ඉන්ධන වර්ගවල මිල අඩු කර ජනතාවට සහන සැලසීම වුවද, ඇණවුම් කර ඇති නැව් ගාස්තු සහ පවතින තොගවල පිරිවැය කළමනාකරණය කරමින් එම තීරණ ගත යුතු බවයි.

ඇතැම් අවස්ථාවලදී සියලුම ඉන්ධන වර්ගවල මිල එකවර අඩු කිරීමට නොහැකි වන්නේ මෙම තාක්ෂණික හේතූන් මත බව ඔහු පැහැදිලි කළේය.

ලෝක වෙළෙඳපොළේ පවතින තත්ත්වය සහ මැදපෙරදිග අර්බුදය වැනි කරුණු ද ඉන්ධන මිල කෙරෙහි බලපාන බවත්, ඉදිරි මාසය වන විට තත්ත්වය ස්ථාවර වුවහොත් සියලුම ඉන්ධන වර්ගවල මිල අඩු කිරීමට රජය බලාපොරොත්තු වන බවත් අමාත්‍යවරයා වැඩිදුරටත් පැවසීය.

ත්‍රිරෝද රථ ගාස්තු වැනි ක්ෂේත්‍ර නියාමනය කිරීමේ අවශ්‍යතාවය ද මෙහිදී සාකච්ඡාවට බඳුන් වූ අතර, සහන ලබා දිය හැකි පළමු අවස්ථාවේදීම රජය ඒ සඳහා පියවර ගන්නා බව අමාත්‍යවරයා අවධාරණය කළේය.

Fuel Pricing Affected by Import Costs, says Minister Nalinda Jayatissa

Responding to queries from journalists regarding when consumers can expect to see fuel supplies made available at new pricing, Minister of Transport Nalinda Jayatissa clarified that fuel prices are determined largely based on the arrival time of shipments and associated expenses incurred.

During a media briefing announcing cabinet decisions, the minister addressed the recent reduction in petrol prices while noting that diesel and kerosene prices remained unchanged, which sparked questions from the press.

Journalists pointed out that the fluctuations in diesel and kerosene prices have a direct impact on the general populace and the fishing community. Despite the drop in petrol prices, they indicated that there has been no corresponding decrease in three-wheeler fares or the prices of goods.

In response, Jayatissa emphasized the government's intention to reduce prices across all fuel types to relieve the burden on the public. However, he stressed that decisions need to be taken judiciously, managing costs associated with contractual shipping fees and existing stocks.

He clarified that it is sometimes impractical to lower all fuel prices concurrently due to operational challenges. Moreover, he highlighted that global market conditions and the ongoing crisis in the Middle East have further implications for local fuel pricing.

Looking ahead, the minister expressed optimism that if conditions stabilize over the coming months, the government aims to implement further reductions on all fuel types.

The need for regulating sectors like three-wheeler fares was also discussed, with the minister assuring that the government will take action at the first opportunity to provide relief in these areas.
